How Do You Manage Pet Hair?

Do you break out your vacuum every day?
    Do you use a dustbuster?
    A damp mop?
    A stick vacuum?
    Swiffer?

What works best to clean up the pet hair (hard floors) in your home every day? Smile

I bust out the vacuum.  In fact it really never gets put away.  I even found a nice spot to keep it, but Kali mostly just plays in there now.

I brush and comb about once a week and vacuum (the dogs) afterwards to try to suck out additional fur.  Since I furminated them about 2 weeks ago, I've noticed a big decrease in the fluff floating in the air.  I have a Dyson and it works well on both the dogs and the floors and furniture.  A friend of mine has a mastiff with those short stiff little hairs and she swears the Dyson is the only thing that got them off her wood and linoleum floors.  I also keep my nappy textured couch and loveseat covered with a king sized sheet set and I strip that off and launder it once a week.

I also keep lint rollers EVERYWHERE because I still get fluff when they rub up against me so there's one in my car, one in the bathroom, one in my purse, one in the.....  you get the idea!  Big Smile

My new go to tool is the 3M Scotch Jumbo Pet Hair Roller - with a sort of telescoping handle - use it on my hard surface floors - easy to get under tables, etc., and fantastic on my annoying microfiber couch that holds onto pet hair and dust with a stubborn intensity!!!

Vaccuum, every day. Teddi's hair bunches up underneath things and I have to vaccuum or it drives me crazy. Then I swiffer the hardwoods every other day.

Swiffer's my favorite. I'm too lazy to have to plug something in. If I don't have Swiffer cloths, the dog hair doesn't get cleaned up. Stick out tongue

I have hardwood floors and leather furniture, so it's not too bad.  I sweep up with an Oskar broom that has a foam pad on on side of the bristles. The hair sticks to that really well.  I love it.  Then, I vacuum the area rugs, and then I use a sponge mop on the hardwood and tiled areas.  I get the most accumulation in corners and behind things.  The foam pad on the mop works awesome for that.

I definitely DO NOT clean up every day.  LOL.Stick out tongue  Once a week, usually.

I also do my laundry at work and leave it there.  I drive to work in my jammies/dog clothes and change there to avoid the hair.  The bad thing about my place is that the only thing the dog hair sticks to is ME!Tongue Tied

My neighbor has one bulldog, and he has more trouble with dog hair than I do though.  He says it's like short little needles that weave into everything.  Husky hair is soft and easy to clean up. I can wipe it up with a damp rag if I need to.

You mean you're supposed to clean up the hair every day?  Surprise  Me, I run the vacuum when I can see Caleb's fur on the carpet.  Oh, did I mention the carpet is a light beige, which means Caleb's fur blends in very nicely with it.  LOL  Seriously, I don't obsess about it.  I vacuum maybe once a week- hardwood floor in the diningroom included.

Bust out the Dyson every day........ack....no hard wood floor here, all carpet........ just several decks that I spray down a couple times a week.......like this one tonight......

Swiffer the floors - vaccum the furniture. Casey sheds a ton for a small dog......UGH. Not nearly as much as those shepherds....but still! You would not look at him and expect to see the gigantic pile of hair lying where he was sitting.......

Ugh I remember that!  I dated a guy with a border collie and his roommate had a bulldog.  That bulldog hair was almost impossible to pick up with anything!  He shed way more than the BC and it did weave its way into everything!  It was like porcupine quills!  I'll take border collie fluff over that mess any day!

Two dogs, both medium coated and both under 35lbs = vacuum once/wk, occasionally use a sticky roller when I wear black or need to look especially snazzy.

My house is a mix of tile and carpet, both beige, 750 sq. ft., open floorplan and I only really see the hair when I'm on the floor or as I'm vacuuming on the tile (it's fun to suck up the furballs lol). Only one dog gets on furniture, so that helps as well.

I vacuum every day, or at least every other (did not vacuum yesterday b/c I worked all day til 5 and then was gone 6:30 to midnight).

For my hard wood floors, I vacuum on the bare floor setting and use an attachment around the baseboards.  Same in the kitchen except every other week I also mop the floor.

I vacuum - a lot. For my furniture though, I've found that wiping the furniture down with a micro fleece rag does the best job.
