Getting A Puppy! (on it's way) *pix added pg.2*

We found some schnauzer puppies. We realized if we wanted a purebred, we'd have to go out of our price range. My parents wanted one so badly...they did.
Now...I posted this on the horse forum, and I got somewhat attacked. I do NOT want to hear ANY ugly comments or anything. This is not a back yard breeder...
she's been breeding mini-schnauzers for awhile and knows what she's doing. I just want happy comments. Ok?  We are looking at getting one or the other, but we're leaning towards the white female. The black is a male.[:)]

Can you meet them first to see their personalities or is that not possible? Personality is so so so important.

Here is that breeders web site. You decide for yourself.

Ugh Definately not a BYB, no but looks like a puppy mill to me.

Why not go with a dog from rescue? Our local schnauzer rescue's adoption fee is $200, IIRC, which includes the spay or neuter, shots & worming, and all that stuff- and they get older pups and young adults (6-18 mos) in all the time when the cute wears off.

Steve thanks for the link. The numbers are staggering to say the least.

The numbers are staggering to say the least.

Numbers? I don't think so. For months we've searched up and down to find a good breeder nearby with a somewhat good price tag. This is the closest and almost cheapest we've found. But we were open to alot. This seemed right so we went for it. My parents are paying for some...I am paying for some.

by numbers I mean the sheer numbers of puppies they have available....close to 20 by my count. With 2 per month litters due in one breed for the next 2 months. Considering how small most Toy litters are (1-3 puppies each)...I wonder how many bitches they have.

I think the numbers they meant were how many puppies this person has on the ground at any one time. She's not breeding on a small scale like reputable people do. Gina has had three puppies this year. Mal's breeder has had 6 (one litter). Reputable breeders don't have close to 35 dogs for sale at a given time, particularly not 35 puppies.

Well, my parents should be there any minute. She will be able to tell. She may not have updated her site lately. She said she only has 2 litters right now. A 7 week and an 8 week. And they are almost gone. Only 3 pups left all-in-all.

What does that have to do with producing 20+ pups per year (less than a year actually) tho? Oh well...

    I dunno...just forget I said anything. It's ok.

If you want to buy from an irresponsible breeder, it's fine. No one's going to stop you. We just would rather you didn't. It's wrong to support unethical breeding, because it's the basis of so much of the pet overpopulation problem in this country.

Oye. However, in keeping with the request in the OP, I'll say nothing...................

Just go ahead guys...tell me all about it. I might as well know.[&:]
