The Alpha of ALL Alphas *always* has a plan -- it's interesting. I've never heard anyone talk about a dog who survived parvo and just call them ordinary. It's one of those things that has a big impact on them -- they KNOW they were sick nearly to death ... it tends to deepen the bond with the owner, and with the vet who helped them (if it's a good vet).
My Billy has IMHA (look it up on the archives if you want a LONG LONG read) and he nearly died SO many times last year. It has changed his personality to a degree -- he can't try hard enough to please now. I've seen it again and again. All the best therapy dogs I've ever trained have had some personal obstacle they've had to overcome.
There's another thread going on right now where someone else has a parvo puppy and she asked specifically for some encouraging stories.
I know there are lurkers who read it and take encouragement ... maybe not because they have a dog with parvo but simply because they're going thru something tough right now. We all need to see encouragement now and then.
