This is so heartbreaking.
As a former small-town newspaper reporter I second the opinion that you go to the local newspapers and ask them to run a story on Ginger. Get a couple of cute photos of Ginger by herself and at least one with your daughter and GO to the newspaper office if you can. (Bring your two year old!) Is the closest paper a daily? or a weekly?
The hook: the vet lost my daughter's puppy and we're frantic and we want people to keep their eyes open. You could get a very sympathetic reporter who will do a human interest story saying "please help find this girl's puppy." If no reporter is available, then leave the cute photos with the receptionist. Bring a basic note summing up the info and attach it.
I would also have the vet's office take out a newspaper ad with a photo---it is the least they can do.
Do you have a local radio station or two? Call them up--email them photos of Ginger and see if the djs will talk about it. Someone who has seen her but didn't realize she was lost could hear the morning radio show and make the connection.
I think someone mentioned local schools---make sure you get word to the high schools in the area and also see if the school bus company would be willing to post something where the bus drivers go on a regular basis. School bus drivers cover tons of ground and any one street could have three different buses on it twice a day----and bus drivers might remember seeing a dog where they didn't see one for the last 22 weeks.
I'm saying a prayer and sending good thoughts your way---I'll light the candle tonight but I hope it will be in celebration of Ginger's return home.
