The vet lost Ginger. (Update.. Bad news though)

    • Gold Top Dog

This vet office has like 4-6 different vets. I only take the dogs there to get their routine shots and spay surgeries. And when I take my dogs there I always request the only vet there I like. But he's on vacation for a couple months. I just had Lillie and Kujo in heat so I wanted to get Ginger taken care of as soon as possible since she had been around them while they were in heat. She just turned 6 months old. I wish I had waited until my vet was back.

The vet office has apologized and the nurse had even taken the day off to go look for Ginger. I hope she at least tried to anyways.

Thanks guys for all the support.

If you can get some help put flyers in every neighborhood for 5 miles surronding the vets office.  Put a flier on every corner.

Go to the school that these neighborhoods kids go to and talk to the principal and see of you get give fliers to the kids there.  Especially if there is a reward kids can do wonders.  Have friends, form a search party to check the woods.

Also what I have seen that works,  people have been able to get news stories printed or on radio and TV about the efforts to find the dog.  If there is anyone that you know that has any pull with the local media it really helps.

Impress upon the vets staff that you need help in these efforts since the dog escaped on their watch.  I would really tactfully pressure the Vet to help come up with a sizable reward.

Wholeheartedly agree to everything timsdat says here.   Flyers everywhere, media support and pressure the vets office to remediate the horrendous situation they've created.

Someone said it wasn't the vet's fault.  It's completely their fault...unintended, but they are responsible.  I sure hope they are putting all of their efforts toward finding your girl.

Candle lit at my house for Ginger's safe return.   Continued thoughts and prayers to you.

Adding to the strong vibes out there for Ginger's safe return.

    I'm so sorry.

    • Gold Top Dog

I would check with EVERY vet in the area!  You never know if someone would find her and turn her in to another vet's office. More good vibes going out.

    • Gold Top Dog

I just saw this, it's just awful I'm SO SORRY!

GINGER: When you hear them calling, run to the nice people! They'll give you cookies and hugs!

If I were that vet, I would feel so, sooooo responsible. If I had been pet-sitting a dog and I lost it I would NOT rest until I found the dog!

Lots and lots of keep safe and warm and GET FOUND vibes for little Ginger!

kle1986, anyone who decided to keep Ginger would probably take her to the vet to be checked out.

The site www.switchboard.com can be used to easily make a list of vets, kennels, etc.  The list can even be ordered by distance.

I could tell you how to use that site or make you a list.  I would even be willing to call folks in the area for you.

To make a list, I would need the address of the vet clinic.  To call folks, I would need your name & number, plus a good description of Ginger.

    Just let me know.

ETA:  If you decide to take me up on my offer of help, please send me the info in a PM.  It would be unwise to post it on a public thread.

I'd also, if you have not done so already, contact (and put posters at) all vet clinics in yours and the surrounding towns. Many people who find a lost dog will take it to the vet to be checked..it seems to never cross their mind to call animal shelters to notify them of the found pet. (they don't seem to realize that CALLING an animal shelter does not mean having to take the dog TO the shelter). We've had to actually suggest it to people who bring in found dogs.

Make sure to notify vets in surrounding cities as well. If someone were in town for visiting and shopping needs and found her, they may have taken her home with them. especially if it was raining.

    This is so heartbreaking.

As a former small-town newspaper reporter I second the opinion that you go to the local newspapers and ask them to run a story on Ginger. Get a couple of cute photos of Ginger by herself and at least one with your daughter and GO to the newspaper office if you can. (Bring your two year old!)  Is the closest paper a daily? or a weekly?

The hook: the vet lost my daughter's puppy and we're frantic and we want people to keep their eyes open. You could get a very sympathetic reporter who will do a  human interest story saying "please help find this girl's puppy." If no reporter is available, then leave the cute photos with the receptionist. Bring a basic note summing up the info and attach it.

I would also have the vet's office take out a newspaper ad with a photo---it is the least they can do.

Do you have a local radio station or two? Call them up--email them photos of Ginger and see if the djs will talk about it. Someone who has seen her but didn't realize she was lost could hear the morning radio show and make the connection.

I think someone mentioned local schools---make sure you get word to the high schools in the area and also see if the school bus company would be willing to post something where the bus drivers go on a regular basis. School bus drivers cover tons of ground and any one street could have three different buses on it twice a day----and bus drivers might remember seeing a dog where they didn't see one for the last 22 weeks.

I'm saying a prayer and sending good thoughts your way---I'll light the candle tonight but I hope it will be in celebration of Ginger's return home.

I just saw this. What a terrible thing to happen!! I'm sending all of my prayers for the safe return of ginger.

I don't have any advice to add, but I am praying for you.

I just thought of something else.  There is a yahoo group called K9 AMBER ALERT.

http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/K9AmberAlert/  I signed up for this and get alerts sent to me by email every single day.    You can put it on there...dont' know how many people it reaches but there are a lot of rescue groups that are involved with this.

I just light my candle and said my prey. I wish today you will find her. Good luck and good vibes from us.

    Come home Ginger!

Bad news guys. I got a call from another vet in town. They said that they thought they had Ginger but it wasnt good news if it was Ginger. And it was Ginger. She had been hit by a car and the people brought her in. Her back, hips, and a leg was broken. Her lungs where bruised badly. I didnt make it to the vet in time to see her. So I have brought her body home to bury.

Thank you guys for all the candles and get home vibes. I wish it had been good news.
