The vet lost Ginger. (Update.. Bad news though)

Here is a web page that talks about how to make good posters and fliers:
    http://missingpetpartnership.org/recovery-posters.php

That organization (MissingPetPartnership.org) trains people to be "pet detectives".  They offer classes (for volunteers) in how to search for lost dogs, plus classes for owners and their dogs in how to provide fee-based search services.

This group is fairly new and their national directory of available "certified" tracking dogs is very small.

Sending lots of good thoughts for a happy reunion today.

I would be livid at the vet and his staff for the way they handled this, not notifying you earlier and quitting the searching !

just a thought but..... do you think there is a possibility that she might have been stolen?

and yes every vets office i've ever been to had a fenced in yard for dog walking..... er... with the exception of the one in the town i live in now. but that vet is only open for three days out of the week and works out of an OLD mobile home. not to say he's a shady guy - quite the contrary - when i had to put my cat to sleep he only charged for the X-rays and ignored pain meds and put him to sleep for free....

i have to say if this was me i'd probably be camped out on that vets front lawn..... i'd have my kids with me too.. if your dog catches your scent she'll likely come back. there is also a chance that she is still in the area and is just hiding. she's a terrier after all - one eye or not - they can do some amazing things!!

OMG I hope so much that you find her please keep us posted.

Don't "call" the humane society/animal control GO!!!! I lost a dog and they said they could not tell me over the phone, and when I pressed they said no but she was found there and had been picked up by AC the day she disappeared so she was there. GO GO GO please check they may have her and she may be safe.

What the heck is your vet doing? They are responsible they need to do something about this!!

    GINGER, GINGER COME HOME!!!!

Also bring a picture leave it with them and don't just show it to someone out front.  Ask to walk the floor.  There have been times when the person up front didn't know every dog in there.  Also go daily!  With shift changes and multiple things going on one person may not see everything.

I agree about walking thru the shelter. The place where I rescued Sassy had at least 10 dogs in each run and there were probably 15 or more runs. That's a lot of dogs to try to remember.

I blame the lady who was holding the leash. SHE should be out searching for your dog! SHE should pay for the flyers! and SHE needs to take some dog training classes. If you run after a dog, they will run too. I think SHE needs to be fired for being so nieve.

I hope you find Ginger, no. wait. you WILL find Ginger...today.

    Keep us updated.

I'm still sending good thoughts that you will find Ginger today!! Please keep us posted with some good news!

    • Gold Top Dog

I wish you the best and hope you find little Ginger today. I know you are looking for her and I'm sending you good and powerful vibes to find her. Good luck!

Praying that you find her! I'd be willing to bet someone in the neighborhood mistook her for a stray and has her, some people do that instead of calling AC.

I can understand the vet tech taking the dog out to relieve themselves. I'd want them to do that for my dog and I understand accidents happen. I just wish they would have put some form of ID on her first. I think they have a responsibility to help find her to though, I'd be so upset if that happened and they only tried for an hour.

All my "come back" vibes are going your way.  I can't believe how complacent your vet's office seems after this accident/error on their part.

I think the ideas of setting out a crate with her things and taking another of your dog's with you when searching is a great idea.  Is there a word you use when feeding her?  Let anyone searching know what that is.

My Gosh!  I can't believe this.  Good luck and happy reunions - soon!

    Any good news yet???

Praying for a safe return.... and that you don't go beat up the folks at the vet's office and get tossed in jail, which is what I would want to do!

I'm crossing my fingers and toes that we hear good news soon!

Oh my! How terrible, and I'm sure sending come home safe vibes. Yes, GO to the shelters. When Sadie first went to her new home she vanished....stepped on the seat belt release and escaped. Her new mom called the shelters, went to the shelters, I called the shelters.....I also emailed her picture and a plea for help to EVERY shelter and rescue group I could find. I got an email from an angel who had seen her at one of the shelters and told me exactly what row she was in. I called. Nope, no dog matching that description. I sent her new mom....told her this rescue person was absolutely certain despite what the shelter workers said, and sure enough, there was the little stinker, and SHE'D BEEN THERE FOR THREE DAYS!! They had a 13 month old german shepherd stuck in a top crate for heavens sakes and denied over and over again that she was there.

Put an especially smelly sweatshirt of yours out near where she was last seen...this will draw her in if she is at large....you can also leave her crate if she has one and a special known toy. Old houndsman trick to recover lost hounds.

Please listen to Glenda.  And, don't give up no matter what!!!!!  Dogs have been found after months and even years.  In Kentucky, if your dog ends up in a shelter, she could be dead within days to make space for dogs whose vets or dimwit owners let them escape.  Go to every shelter around, and make posters in HUGE letters (drivers can't read the small ones).  Have them just say LOST  (BROWN or whatever color) DOG - REWARD - and your PHONE NUMBER.  Take your two year old with you and go look for your dog - it's a good lesson for her in NOT giving up and being compassionate.  And, if you ever do get her back, have her new vet (I would never set foot in that place again, except to bill them for my gas to go around looking for my dog) insert a microchip so that she can be scanned and returned home.
