The vet lost Ginger. (Update.. Bad news though)

I'm so sorry. What a terrible tragedy. You know we all understand, here. When our pets die, our hearts bleed and we grieve. It's important to acknowlege how important they are to us and how much we loved them in life. They're another family member after all.

You know,,,just last week there was another dog that died this way... it was on the K 9 Amber Alert notification.  I do'nt know what state it was but the alert read that they were looking for a Harliquin Great Dane male that got out after a neuter. They knew it got hit by a car when it got away though...but couldn't find the dog.  The next day or so came another post in the Amber Alert saying the dog was found on the side of the road.   This happened a day or so before Ginger...but I did'nt want to write about it as it didn't have a good ending..and I was so hoping for a good one for Ginger.

This is a lesson that I hope all veterinarian people read and learn from.

I'm glad I have this forum to come to and share good and bad stuff with.

    Totally right on.

I'm sorry these events happened to you. The problem is no longer at the vet's office and bravo to them for doing the honorable thing with regard to expenses and remodelling. Sure, everyone can list in hindsight what could have and should have been done. And you did everything you were supposed to do, including the fact that you had her there to be spayed and chipped. I don't think you can be any more responsible than that.

    Run free, Ginger.

    • Gold Top Dog

And you did everything you were supposed to do

SO TRUE RON! We get caught up into what others didn't do.... and its so important to remember that you did the right thing.

I'm so sorry to hear that... I can't even imagine what you went through. ((Hugs)) Trey got loose at the vet's before... similar story. Nearly got hit by a car but managed to get into someone's back yard and end up back at the vet's... you'd think things like that wouldn't happen very often. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Run free, Ginger. :(

I am terribly sorry. I am glad at least you know what happened and will not wonder for years. I am hurting along with you and all the other people on this board. You have my best wishes for healing a little every day. Sally

Samantha's ideas and questions about Ginger will probably change as she gets older.  Books can help her express those questions.

Here are some children's books on grief.  Check your public library.  One can pick the ones that are consistent with one's beliefs.  The ages give the reading level, not the comprehension level.

I wanted to pass along my thoughts and prayers.  I sat here reading this and tears were rolling down my face.  What a tragedy and I am so very sorry for your loss.  My heart just breaks for you.  Hugs going out to you.

    • Gold Top Dog

Oh Kle!!  I am so sorry!!  We have been gone for the past 3 -4 days and I just saw this.  I don't know what to say, except I am sorry.  Big hugs and beagle snuggles to you.

    • Silver

My heart is breaking for you and your daughter. What a terrible thing to happen to your dear Ginger.

I was wondering: are the vets going to pay for a replacement dog?  I KNOW that nobody could ever replace Ginger, but perhaps another dog could help ease the pain. Just curious...
