How dumb can a politician get?

Have a discussion with the $20 crack *content removed, inappropriate* standing on the street corner and see exactly how glamorous the lifestyle is.

Seriously .... I doubt that any of the girls in question are spending time standing on street corners. Standing in line at a pricey Day Spa maybe.

As I said before, whatever folks want to do, as long as it's not hurting anyone else, is fine with me.

So I guess that if your child choose that profession as their lifes work you would be just fine with that.

Steve...I'm not sure why you are so surly here...but the fact is those are each individual's decisions to make.

I have already admitted being a hypocrite when it comes to this...but I have to be, because it is illegal and thus more dangerous for women and men both...than it would be were it a controlled, legal industry.

I would not be thrilled if Lily wanted to be a stripper...or porn star...or B movie actress (or actress at all for that matter)...or revolutionary...or domestic terrorist...or Scientologist...for her "life's work"

Your 'child' is only a child until age 18...and what they choose to do after that is not anything you can control.

Making folks feel defensive isn't really making any point that I can see....and again not sure why you seem so put out, that some women here are not as angry as you are about the subject.

Why women aren't angry or upset about this is really have me baffled.  It is something that demeans women and reduces them to object status.  Isn't that what women have been fighting against for years.  This is an industry that breeds other crime and reduces the morality of the community. Look at the historical examples.  I just believe that we can be a better society.

What bugs me about these political scandals isn't the act itself as much as the lying about it. In my personal belief system, if you're going to do something, you need to have the cojones to own up to it. If you can't handle that, don't do it. Same holds with prostitution, smoking weed, having same-sex relations, or liking rap music. If it's that embarrassing to own up to, just don't do it! It's the dishonesty that I find most upsetting. Probably why I'm not in politics. Wink

Why?  I'd be upset about a young teen-age runaway forced into prostitution.  I think the women in question here chose their way of life ...  and if any of them want out, with that kind of money they certainly know where the door is.

Steve, I don't get it.  If you pick up a woman in a bar tonight and have sex with her, have you demeaned her?  Have either of you (the unlikely possibility of STD notwithstanding) been harmed?  If I am understanding you correctly, it would only be demeaning if you gave her $20 or $2,000?  Why?  How?  Where is the harm?

And she will be able to afford a nice car to get away from it all.  Why anyone would begrudge a woman for taking the opportunity of using her best assets to make the most money she can is beyond me.

Are you suggesting that a woman's body is her 'best assets'. I'm with Steve - I find that demeaning.

Well, in my personal opinion, yes. You would be demeaning her, and you would be demeaning yourself. So, that's why I'm not big on "one night stands" in my life.

HOWEVER... if other people don't feel that way (and it's clear that many don't), then I feel it's demeaning to them for me to impose my own personal belief system on their behavior.

So if I could afford it, would I go to a high end call guy? Probably not, unless I desperately needed a social date (and nothing more). But I can't judge those who do, it's not my place to do so.

If it was her choice to do that, as it certainly is with the women we are discussing, I just don't see it as demeaning.  Denying her opportunity and choice based on nothing more than a moral objection is demeaning.

I know many men who's best asset is their wallet....I doubt they feel demeaned when women hook up with them for that. :eyeroll:

Best asset so what? ONLY asset....sad but not my problem nor needful of my pity or moral judgement.

Make-up, high-heels and skirts all make women objects of attention and desire. I don't personally believe that prostitution demeans women. If they want to do it, I don't think it's demeaning at all.

Some women, certainly. Not me. I think prostitution should be legal.

So does politics and that's still going strong.

No doubt we can be, but there are many places to work on that other than 2 adults having consensual sex.

I have a good friend who is in exactly that boat.  He is probably early 60's.  Has a VERY attractive 30 year old fiancee.  He knows he wouldn't have her if not for his money because we have discussed it.  He just doesn't care.  We were having a few beers this weekend.  Hi son, who is the same age as his fiancee said to his dad, "Dad, she is only after your bulge.  The bulge in your BACK pocket."  We all laughed.
