    So how was Valentine's Day?

Mine was nonexistent and a bit confrontational (I might share later we'll see) but I want to live vicariously through those of you who had a really special evening!  Please tell your story!

Actually sounds like mine, + a stuffed puppy and chocolates.

Just a normal day for me.  Came home, took the dogs out, did some chores, made dinner for myself, sat down and watched the news.  Sheesh you'd think I lived alone!  DH had a 7-midnight shift and wanted to eat at the dinning hall.  I did my evening workout, watched Survivor, Celeb Apprentice, and went to bed at 11.  I'm not sure when DH got home b/c I was asleep.

No excessive specialness here...dh worked, came home and gave me my hockey tix (yeah baby!) my chocolate (ditto) and my video game...(oh yeah DANTE is back!)...we all ate some delish burgers from the BEST burger joint in town...looked thru Lily's Valentine's...and went to bed. Not bad...not Earth shaking but nothing to complain about. Smile

I got 5 red carnations and a hand-made card. I asked BF 'why 5?' and he said because it seemed like 'the right amount'. Weird-o.

He had to work all day, and then had a gig that night, so we saw each other from 7am-9am. LOL.

I was exhausted and had an extremely busy day at work.

Boyfriend took me out to lunch for an hour.

After work I came home and opened the door to find Kayla dressed up in a cute valentine's doggie outfit. There was a line of rose pettles leading to the bedroom. I opened the door and there stood hubby (looking so good as always) and the bed was covered in rose pettles. Two Dozen of Red Roses also laid there along with a bottle of my favorite Pinot Noir (red wine) and a card. He told me to read the card and he held me from behind while I was reading it. The card was funny with a lotto ticket inside of it (inside joke) then I read the letter he put in it and got all teary eyed! I said thank you and turned around and then he started to cry and told me he loved me and proposed! He told me he promised to save up for a ring haha. I told him of course and I would stay with him forever and once we had things in order & he had a ring I would say yes again ;o) He was being so romantic and cute!!

We didn't do much after that. (well you could probably guess what we did) so ya we did that a lot then decided to just cuddle all night.

I hope everyone else had a great Valentine's Day too! *floating on cloud 9 right now still*

Yeah... I didn't get a stuffed puppy, though. Also visited my dying grandmother in the hospital, though she wasn't conscious enough to know I was there, and then drove 11 hours home (even though I wanted to stay with her) to come back to a sulky, hissy-fitting BF who's going to get a good talkin-to today about sensitivity, proper timing for "discussions," acceptable ways of expressing frustrations, and the importance of saying "welcome home." Worst Valentine's Day in my recollection, that's for sure.

Last year there was a big snow storm so BF and I went to the store the day before and got supplies for an "indoor picnic" for Valentine's Day. That was nice. Such things don't need to be fancy, for me, just setting aside some "we're going to be happy and enjoy each other's company especially much" is all I ever really want.

    Edit: and congrats, Pom!

DH picked up shrimp and crablegs on his way home from work.  We watched Hitch, ate the seafood w/ baked potatoes and exchanged gifts.  He was psyched about the camera, but told me I should return it and buy a new one b/c I forgot to use his discount when I bought it (d'oh).  He got me a card, which was oh so sweet and absolutely perfect.  (he said he spend an hour finding the 'right' one).  He also got me 6 LE Disney pins which I wanted 2 of them finished a set I was working on and 2 of them were to an LE 100 set that I thought I would NEVER be able to have....YAY!!! (As my nerdiness starts showing :o) )  It was freezing in the house so we went in the bedroom so I could bury myself under 4 blankets.  He played w/ his camera for a few minutes then used my laptop to get online Tongue Tied so I got bored and went to sleep.

Wow!  Pom, congratulations!  Cita, I am SO sorry.  :(

My share is...DH is always against any event where he "has" to do something (so generally speaking, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays kind of stink for me) so he did...absolutely nothing.  I had gotten him a card from me and Shannon, I wrote some nice words of affirmation in them, plus I left him a voice mail earlier that day when I heard a song that moved me.  I gave him the cards before I left that morning, but I had to ASK HIM what he thought of them at 8:00pm last night and he hadn't even bothered to open them yet.  I'm not planning on even getting him a card next year.

Oh  - apparently the night beforehand he went online to look up some valentine stereograms that he was going to print out for me - but the printer ran out of ink so he didn't do it - and I found out instead that he had been looking at PORN.  I was really hurt by this and so we had to have a "conversation" about it - yet AGAIN - about how we both feel so disrespected and unpartnered with in our relationship.  Yep, things are a big struggle with us right now.  But, the conversation went well so I am hopeful that the tide will soon turn in our favor.  .

Wow - sorry Gina. That does sound like a rough day/night. I do hope the tide turns for you.

Congrats Pomeranian!! DH proposed to me on Valentine's Day also and it was very special.

We didn't do anything exciting. DH is taking an online college course that we thought would be a piece of cake, but has turned out to be a ton of work. He was studying when I got home and then had to take an online test. I helped by clicking and saving the answers while he was reading the next question Angel

Well, we spent most of the day on a plane ride across country with a very fussy 9 month old.  When we got home I picked up a very happy puppy from his "hotel" and pizza and all 4 of us crashed out at 9:00.  No cards, no flowers, but honestly, it really didn't bother me at all.

I did come home to two boxes of chocolate and fun stuff from the swap so that worked out well.

It was just a normal day for me.  DH was working and Madison played in the snow for a few hours.  I took her to get her new kitten then got yelled at by DH because I got the kitten.  When DH came home, he had a stuffed dog for me though!  I had bought him some chocolates and I think he got to eat maybe 3 of them.  Madison stole the rest!

Congrats Pom and sorry the day wasn't better for you Gina and Cita.

Mine was very uneventful.  We really don't celebrate Valentine's Day.  Hubby did get me a really sweet card.  I didn't even get him one this year which I feel sort of bad about but I just didn't have a chance.  I made us leftovers and about 10 minutes after hubby got home from work his boss called and begged him to go out on a circuit that was down.  He got some brownie points and some overtime and we weren't really doing anything anyway.  So I ate dinner, paid bills, worked on our tax return and called the credit card company to extend our 1.99% rate for another year.  At least I got a bunch of stuff done that I really needed to.

We are going out to eat tonight though...yeah!

We are just so happy to still have one another, that every day is Valentine's Day.  But, we had a good laugh because of what we did together to celebrate.  We went to Lowe's and bought a new toilet seat, and laughed all night at how hilarious that was as a new "Valentine tradition".  Actually, other than that, just a quiet dinner and some hugs...

    Big Smile
