what the dog did to the schnauzer is UNFORTUNATE and horrible. Another example of the obviously HORRIBLE management that the owner has shown.
If the dog has bitten the maintenance guy...er...well, he should still be evaluated by someone who KNOWS rottweilers and works them regularly.
The schnauzer incident, goes with the dog aggression that you stated already that he has. That's not a reason to euth. the dog, as unfortunate as it is that he did that to that poor dog. It's all the MORE REASON to get that dog into the hands of RESPONSIBLE people and away from his idiot owner.
I agree completely. The thing is, even though she knows that he is aggressive and has attacked other dogs before, she continues to walk him off leash. [

I have been thinking about this. I believe I know what she was calling herself doing. She has to know that it was me who complained to the management. I know that they spoke to her. So, instead of doing the responsible thing, and just putting her dog on a leash, she instead takes him out really early in the morning and late at night. I haven't seen him out at all during the day. Well, anyway, she saw that it was me last night, and she was trying to show that she was trying to "gain control" of the dog. One of the things that came out of her mouth while she was hitting him was "You're not gonna get to that dog, because I'm not gonna let you!!" She is just trying to do something (albeit one of the
worst ways to go about it), because she knows the next step by the management is that they are going to have her remove the dog. I don't want that to happen, because the shelters around here are full as it is and with the dog being dog aggressive and possibly human aggressive, he WILL be euthanized immediately. I have seen more tame dogs then him go into those shelters and be determined too aggressive to be adoptable.
[sm=smack.gif] I don't know why I never thought of calling a rescue around here. I feel ashamed of myself. [&o] Max came from a rescue who removed dogs from situations like these. I can't believe I didn't think of this a month or two ago, before this escalated into somethign like this.
I don't believe that he is outright human aggressive. I know that he bit the maintenance guy when he came in to her apartment while she was there and he was changing an air filter. I can easily forgive that. He was intruding in his "territory". But it shows that the possibility is there for hbuman aggression. And I'm afraid that with him taking beatings like this will only cause him to become aggressive towards humans.
As to what I carry with me on my walks, not much. I have some pepper spray that I sometimes carry with me, but I rarely do. Unless you count a pistol. I live near a bad part of town, so I have it to defend myself if need be. I would never use it on a dog though, unless I was being attacked and I had no other choice.
I am going to send a rescue an email right now. Thanks for all the help. If anyone else has any ideas, please keep em coming.
ETA: I wanted to clarify the bite issue with the maintenance guy. I don't believe that he bit him hard at all. Probably more of a warning then anything else. No damage was done that I know of.
