Jack needs prayers--badly...

    Christina, deep breaths!!!!!!!!!!

When I took Rascal into the e-vet a few months ago, they gave me a huge fire-and-brimstone speech about how dangerous it was to leave the bit of bully stick in his stomach, how he was certain to have his intestines rupture instantly, etc. etc. etc. I was terrified. You know what happened? It took a few days, but he just pooped it out happily.

A lot of times vets (and doctors) will give us a "worst case scenario" sort of speech to kind of scare us into doing what needs to be done, since people can often be reluctant to get/pay for appropriate medical care. If your vet thinks it can wait, I'm sure it can!!!!! Don't let the "we don't want you to think this isn't a problem and not bring him in" scary speech freak you out too much. Jack is being taken care of and closely supervised and I'll bet you anything he'll be A-Okay!

    Big hugs for you guys!!

Prayers and healing thoughts for Jack. Calming prayers for you and DH.

Big hugs. I'd be terrified too, but just keep breathing and don't let yourself ruminate too much. We're all pulling for him. There are a whole bunch of us who won't breathe properly either until he comes through the surgery.

awe now please stop that!  Don't blame yourself, I KNOW he will be alright.  And I turely believe that if the Vet thought it was life or death he would operate immediatly!!   No humane person would do anything different so be kind to yourself and think good thoughts.  Jack will be ok, I know he will.

PS: I would be scared too, but you have to be positive.  Forty five minutes from now he will be ok.

I'm so sorry you're going thru this and as much as I'd love to say "don't worry" I know you will and I would too. I will keep Jack in my thoughts and prayers this morning and I hope to see a post soon with some good news. (((HUGS)))

Good Strong Vibes coming from up here too.  You didn't fail him.  You've already gone way beyond what an average dog owner would do for Jack.  Even before this.  Poor little guy has already been through so much, this will just add another notch to his belt.  He'll be ok Hun, just hang in there.

Christina, I just want to repeat what so many others have said.  You did not fail Jack and this is not your fault.  There's no way you can  have a dog in your sight 24/7.  They find things to get into. Lots of fingers and paws crossed here for a speedy recovery for Jack.

(((hugs))) to both you and Jack (and your hubby who's prob feeling pretty low right now since he waited to take him in).  It is too bad you couldn't have just taken him to Purdue - they were so wonderful with Maggie and she got great care plus they worked to save me money where they could.  Oh well, live and learn I guess.

You're in CST I think, so still an hour to go?  Good thoughts headed your way from a fellow hoosier in SC. (Maggie said she set her ACD bentley mark glowing for you and Jack too).

It's 12 here and I'm thinking of Jack!! I'll keep thinking of him every hour though because I just don't get time zones.

we're most definitely thinking of sweet jack today

    • Gold Top Dog

No, no, no!  You did not fail him.  Things happen & you can't watch him 24/7.  If you can go sit with him until surgery then do it.  Tell him we're ALL thinking & praying for him.  I have a candle burning for him & you.  ((HUGS))

Christina, we are all praying for Jack.  Don't beat yourself up - you are a great dog mom, one of the best.  As Annie said, you can't possibly watch a dog 24/7, and things happen.  We horse people have a saying, "If you put a horse in a two acre paddock and there is a nail sticking out of one post in the fence, the horse and the nail will somehow find each other."  You can pound the nails in every day, but one can still pop out occasionally before you get to it to pound it back in.  This is not your fault, and you are doing the best for him that you can.

    It's 12:45 EST, I'm praying.........

Lots of fingers and paws crossed for Jack.  I know it is really upsetting, but after the surgery, he will feel so much better!  He will not blame you at all, just be thrilled to be back home again with his family.
