Jack needs prayers--badly...

    • Gold Top Dog

Cadie, Riley and I are sending tons of hugs, good thoughts and prayers!!!!!! You most definitely did NOT fail him. Things just happen. Jack, we are constantly thinking of you and sending vibes for a fast recovery!

And remember, in no way have you failed him. One time we had a dog who bloated because someone let him outside and left his bowl of food there with him. He had to have an emergency surgery to survive. We are human, and we can't prevent every bad thing happening no matter how many precautions we try to take. You are an incredible dog owner, and Jack knows you love him!

Fingers tightly crossed for a nothing but positive outcome here - I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Christina - you have NOT failed him!!!  We cannot watch them every second of every day!!!!  Please be kind to yourself and stay positive!!!

Sending all of our thoughts and prayers your way...

You did not fail Jack.  You are human and dogs get into things - you are a wonderful dog mom (anyone who knows you, even just slightly from this forum, knows that).  Hindsight is always 20/20, but you did nothing wrong.  Time to concentrate on all the good vibes coming your way - and there are a lot!

Any updates on Jack? I hope he's doing well. Stay strong buddy! (and don't eat stuff you're not 'posta!)

Please be ok Jack!  All of us, furry and not, in my house are praying and keeping fingers/paws crossed.

Well, Jack has pulled through the surgery well.  Apparently he ate a pair of underwear.  The vet said that nothing looked dead and when they took the underwear out the intestine started responding like it is supposed to.  I am going to look in on him before I go to work, although they said he is pretty out of it still.  I guess they will start him on liquids tomorrow and keep him until Monday afternoon if all goes well.  Wouldn't you know that next week is the week that DH and I are both stating up on the same shift (a day shift), but I contacted a doggy daycare he has been to before and they said that they could provide a nice comfy place where someone can look after him and make sure he is leaving his stitches alone, etc, while we are working.

He's not out of the woods yet, but we are praying that he will have a speedy recovery and that all will go smoothly.

You guys have no idea how much your support has meant to DH and I.  I was such a wreck after we dropped him off and your posts really helped me calm myself and have hope for the best.  I told DH and my mom about the wonderful response here and they were both touched, and I was tearing up reading all of your thoughts for us.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!  I just can't say it enough.  We would be grateful if the idog prayers kept coming as he still has to recover, but we are hopeful that he will bounce back....

Whew - I'm glad to read that the surgery is over and he's responding well. I know you must be breathing a little easier as well. I will continue to say prayers and think good thoughts for all of you and will look forward to seeing progress reports on Jack.

So glad the surgery went well!  Here's hoping for a fast, easy recovery!  I'm going to make Onyx read this thread though, maybe it will quell her taste for socks and undies.

SO glad to hear that Jack pulled through the surgery well.  It sounded like the vet was pretty hopeful for a full recovery.  I know you'll give him lots of love and hugs and kisses which is sure to speed his recovery.  Hang in there!

    • Gold Top Dog

Hooray!!! Geez louise, Jack, after all the vet stuff you've been through already, you had to go back for MORE? Honestly!!!

Glad he came through the surgery well, here's hoping for calm and relaxation for all three of you :)

Jack - underwear?! My goodness. [&]

Seriously, I'm glad the surgery went well. Take it easy and get all better, Jack.

Thank god Jack is OK and I know he will get better.  Underwear is right up there on the Swissy gotta eat em up list along with socks!  There was story on my Swissy site of a Greater Swiss vomiting too, when all was said and done he vomited "6" PAIR or undies.  Fortunately, he was able to throw them up.   River has passed socks and knee highs before too.
