EDITED TO ADD UPDATE 4/17: I talked to Kenna, who is fostering him and who will fly up with him next month. It looks like he and she will arrive mid-May and Kenna is coming along! She's paying for her ticket, of course.
I was correct in estimating the cost of the transport (and associated costs: rescue fee to shelter ($100), vet, crate, gas, etc., which is coming in at around $450-$500. The shelter has its fee now and no longer wants donations. [&:] Go figure! I am sending all the donations sent to me so far down to Kenna to buy him a crate and his plane ticket, get him groomed, pay for the neutering, microchipping etc. THANK YOU! I'm still about $150 short, so any little bit you can send will help. THANKS!!
And Sofia thanks you too, she is going to be SO HAPPY to have a friend to go nutso with!
ORIGINAL POST:
I can't wait any longer to tell you all! An elkhound down in Oregon needs a home and he's perfect for me and Sofia! When the rescue first emailed me last week, I kept waiting for things to fall through, for someone else to adopt him, for him to get sick, or whatever....so far three dogs have been adopted so fast that I didn't even have a chance!
However this dog has something that seemed to be a sign.......you all know I'm driving down to my son's wedding this August, right? Well, my son's name is Ole. Guess that this elkie's name is? You got it! Ole! (only they spelled it wrong, as "Oley," but dogs don't spell so well anyway. [

]) I may rename him and I might not. I told my son on the phone that when he gets here things will be back to normal. I'll be able to say, "OLE! Stop that!" again just like I did for 20 years! [

So now, without further ado, here are pictures of Ole!
He's a byb dog or a puppymill dog, but a real love, as you can see! Both of the folks who have visited with him said that he's got the greatest personality and is very well-behaved, and isn't barky. [
