We are a family of 4!! (alieliza)

Ok guys, its true! We are officially a family of 4!

Some of you had suspected that we were adopting Princess when I posted a thread entitled "What would you name this dog?" I didn't respond to any of the inquiries because we weren't sure at the time how it would go... but its officially official.... she's a part of our family!

Princess (now Gracie, we think!) was a dog that was taken into rescue off of the streets. According to her bio on petfinder (seen here: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=9700619) she was found on the streets of New York just having given birth to puppies, but there were no puppies to be found. God knows what happened to them and what their future holds. She was taken into rescue, and was very shy. She ended up being fostered at my fiance's job, a doggy day care that frequently fosters dogs for the Mayor's Alliance rescue. Well, BF fell head over heels for her, and had to have her.

We always knew that Tyson would adore having another dogs around, hes incredibly playful and loves canines and humans alike. It will be a great thing for him (and for us -- as hes a very persistent player!!) and for Gracie. She now has a loving, secure home that is knowledgeable about her breed! (Which, btw, we think she's a mix, as shes very petite... any guesses??)

She is so lovely, very graceful (hence the name Gracie) -- nothing like Tyson, the big goofy brute! The two of them get along fabulously. She is incredibly affectionate and just melts in your arms. I think she will do very well here.

A note on the name: All of you gave really great suggestions... we really like the idea of a double T -- but we couldn't agree on a name! The one we finally came to a conclusion on was Gracie. Any thoughts?

I also want to say, in case anyone doubts us or doesn't know us, we've taken DA and Pit Bulls into close consideration. Both of the dogs are 2+ years old, and neither has ever shown a lick of dog aggression. They met before we decided to adopt her (at the doggy day care) and we introduced them when she came to our house outside on the street, and took them for a long long walk together before coming in. They hit it off from the start. They will never be left alone together, unsupervised, be it in the house or in the yard. We've been considering adding a second dog for quite some time now (1 year+) and finally have found the perfect partner for Tyson, a female who is also not DA. Just had to put my disclaimer.

    So, without further ado.... Pictures!

    Gracie

She's beautiful!  I'm glad you gave her a home!  She practically looks like a puppy herself.  What a face!  She looks like she's going to be a very personable dog.  Have good disposition about her.  Good Luck, and Congrats, on giving "Gracie" a good home.  Poor little mama, looks like she's happy, already!

She is absolutely adorable! They make a wonderful pair! Congratulations! Gracie is a perfect addition to your family, it seems! I love her name. We have a cat with the same name and it was because of the graceful way he moved.

She is beautiful and I can't actually imagine a better name than Grace - she's lithe and elegant looking and her rescue name was Princess - so now when you've named her (tenatively) Grace, I think of Princess Grace and I think it is perfect!

Tyson looks so pleased with the addition to his pack!  And I know you will be sensible and cautious to ensure all 4 of you have a happy and safe home together!  She could not have ended up in a better home!!  Congrats!

    • Gold Top Dog

Congrats!!!! Your pups even match, how awesome! Wink She looks lovely and I'm sure the 4 of you will have a lovely time together. Now you have to come back to the forums more often to update us! Big Smile
