Do you wash your hands.......?

I just use more caution if I'm about to cook or if I've just put medicine on her or brushed her teeth or something like that.  I definately don't wash every time I touch her.  My husband does though!  I do tend to wash if I touch another dog because I don't know what that dogs been in contact with.

Ha!  I couldn't afford the soap bill, or the lotion bill in the winter.  My hands are dry enough!

i wipe my hands on my pants....

should i make funeral arrangements before the month ends or am i still ok till mid June?

    • Gold Top Dog

As long as you burn those pants each night, you should be fine....til June.

LOL Dumdog!!!!  Nope, don't wash my hands after patting my dog either.  I can't imagine doing that, I'd be at the sink all day and I have other things to do.

LOL! That would most definitely be a no! I do at work, as I work with a lot of different pets that sometimes have skin conditions and what not (I work at a vet clinic) but at home, nope.  Unless she rolled in something gross!

I figure since Kirby doesn't feel the need to scrub his fur every time I touch him, I don't need to wash my hands every time either.  Besides, if you have a house dog and they had something they could pass on to you, your probably going to catch it regardless of how often you wash your hands.

Teehee, no! In fact I like the "only when they have a bath" analogy. *G*

And these people wonder why they are sick all the time?

I agree completely, and most especially after having taken my microbiology and immunology courses. I was a kid who grew up playing with ants, making mud pies, building forts, investigating the dead mouse in the woods, etc (I've been intrigued by nature as long as I can remember - even now I  get awed at some of the most simple things in nature). I was a very healthy child, and I am compared to general society, a very healthy adult. The last time I got the flu was, incidentally, the only time in my life I ever got the flu shot. And it had been the first time I had the flu in years. Go figure. I wouldn't get one again, I don't even know why I got it when I did. When the mumps went around university and some faculties were shut down, I refused the vaccine they were trying to jab us with, and I was just fine. And I take the same precautions with my animals too. Way too much over-medicating going on in todays' society IMO. But that's for another discussion......

...honestly.... i'm more worried about washing my hands and my boys hands after they have been around other kids.. not animals.. especially not DOGS.. Especially especially MY dogs!

I **do** wash my hands after I pet dogs at doggie day care. I know that they are all vaccinated, but I am with anywhere from 1 to 100 dogs every day. That's a lotta ick, ya know? And they are in at least two groups (small/large) so I'd hate to treck something icky from one group to the other.

At home? Pffff. I wash them before I cook, if you're lucky. There's a saying at my house. If you can't deal with a stray dog hair or two in your food, find another house to eat at!!

I wash my hands a lot, I know I have a very weak immune system and have had one since i was little.  So when out somewhere, I wash my hands before I eat anything, or touch anything that will be eaten.

At home, I wash my hands a lot, but not after everytie i pet my dogs.  I always wash my hands before I eat, no matter where I am.

I don't wash my hands after everytime I touch my dogs/cat.  Cripe, I wouldn't have any skin on my hands if I did that.  I believe my family is healthy for a reason...I don't believe in antibacterial soap!  Unless were on the boat, I do carry the stuff you don't need water with, for several reasons.  We don't have a sink, and it's really good for small catfish stings, since they carry a lot of bacteria and it really does help for that.  But, I prefer regular soap, since our bodies have an immune system, I'm always afraid, if you start using the anti-bacterial soap, then your body will get used to not fighting certain germs and then you become more subceptable (sp.) to germs and diseases.  When I was little, I'd eat stuff off the floor, or share my ice cream cone w/ my dog, and never got sick...my immune system must be incredible!  I think if you become germaphobic, your just asking for more trouble.

I will wash my hands after cleaning up the yard, and usually after feeding the dogs/cat, and cleaning the cat litter!  Heck after cleaning the cat litter I feel like taking a SHOWER!  Sh*tty Kitty!  But, not after everytime I pet them.  That's just a little too much.  Smile

    Hahahahahaha!  Love it!

I feel so good to know I'm not the only one that can not live up to the request of washing hands.  From my family members' point of view, it is an   obvious thing to do since they are not quite fond of animals/pets.

I have a little plaque on my kitchen wall that says "The Cook is not Responsible for Dog Hair in the Food" and a platter that says "Everything Tastes Better With Dog Hair In It" around the edges. Seriously, there are so many worse things that I could find in my food than a dog hair every now and  then. SmileJ
