    My Thoughts Of THIS FORUM.

I wonder after a few posts here. Why majority treat there dogs , pets, wich ever you call it, Like  he/or she is a human?

Are you asking why I treat my dog like he is a human?

    The answer is simple:

I don't. I treat him as if he is a part of my family. But I don't forget he is an animal. He has rules he must obey, things he can do, and cannot. As a part of my family, he stays inside my house. Dogs will be dogs. If he wants to dig, he digs. He must sit for food, treats, walks, etc. He must not run out the front door, and he must potty outside.

I have been on this forum quite a while now, and I don't know anyone on this forum that treats their dogs like they are human. If anything I have seen people say dogs should NOT be treated like they are human, because well they aren't. Just curious but where did you get that impression? =]

I dont understand the question. Maybe you could give some examples of what you mean.

Because I own a TOY dog. My dog, Pomeranian, was bred down to size from a thirty pound dog to be a lap-dog-baby. Also if you DON'T treat most toy dogs like your own "child" you will end up with a nightmare dog.

What many people mock and don't understand about toy breeds are WHO THEY ARE! They are a breed to be respected & appropriate owners need to be respected too. It takes a lot of attention and dedication to own a lovable toy dog.

I know "Kayla" is not a human, but she has human-like social necessities. She is seriously a two-yr old (or younger) child. THAT is why I "treat" her like a human. And those who don't, don't deserve to have this type of dog.

It is a good topic and interesting point that you bring up. I am eager to see what other people with other breeds have to say about it.

I couldn't have said too much better then erica.

My dogs aren't human, and they aren't treated like human children, but they are a very valued part of my family and I love them.

I know exactly what the person means.  I have seen it and also where people treat their pets better than other humans.  There have been times I have posted something to the effect that "we are talking about dogs" on certain subjects and get blasted for that statement.

    GREAT QUOTE ERICA1989!!!!

The question was simple. Majority of you im sure keep your dog in the house, and are against a dog being tied up/and or kept outside. Rather in a fence, un-tied or tied next to a dog house.

But unlike humans, your dog cannot tell you when she does not feel good. She cannot tell you what hurts, and what she does not like. I think when people start to treat their animals as humans they forget simple things.

Dogs will be dogs, and no amount of training can make them not be dogs. Dogs bark, dogs dig, dogs hunt and dogs shed. They are animals, with the potential to bite, and kill. I personally, think it is dangerous to think of your dog as a human, and to froget what he is capable of.

Yep.  My dogs too are part of the family.  As such they live in the house, they are allowed on many pieces of furniture and enjoy activities with me and the rest of my family.  However, they are dogs and we all KNOW that they are dogs.  But knowing that doesn't change that they are an important part of our family.

OF COURSE I AM!! I own a TOY dog. You have to understand that people will act certain ways based on certain breeds. If you specify a breed it may be more helpful.

TOTALLY agree to disagree with this statement.

I know "Kayla" is a dog but she TOTALLY lets me know everything about her! It's also part of her breed's nature. I know when she's hungry, frustraited, upset, etc. I take lots of time studying her and learning things from professionals about dog body language and her own personal needs.

She doesn't bark, dig, hunt, or kill. She's a toy. Who she is as a dog is 100% domestic and wouldn't hurt a flee.

This subject totally varies on breed & dog.

This is a dog forum, so most of the people here do things above and beyond just tie their dog up outside.  If we all tied our dogs up outside this forum would be kind of boring.  Posts would look more like... "Well, it's Day #347, dog is still there.  Yep, he's still tied up.  I refilled its water bowl and gave him some food.  Alright, that's about it!  See you guys tomorrow!"

I don't think caring for your dog properly should be considered as treating them like they are human. They are living breathing creatures who have needs, they are not just objects to be shoved to the side. They need love, attention, training, the works. By tying them up outside or constantly having them locked outside, in what way is that good for them? For that matter whats the point of even having a dog then? Basically by doing that you make them sound more like objects. In what way should a dog be treated if you believe what most of us are currently doing is treating them like humans? JMO
