It has been interesting to read everyones reasons for owning guns and/or support for the right to own guns.
Applying the same logic in the above article to swimming pools would suggest that swimming pools should be made illegal as well.
Adolf Hitler thought the same thing. A major difference between him
and you is he had the power to make it happen. And he did. How did
that work out?
How long does it take the police to get to your house in order to protect you?
I sleep better at night knowing that myself and many of my neighbors
are armed and I would not sleep as well if only the police and the bad
guys had all the guns.
I think we all should have the right to protect ourselves our families and our property...the bad guys will always find a way, whether guns are legal or not.
Yep, guns are all but illegal in Chicago and Washington DC. I wonder how the crime rate is in those fine cities?
i think you will find that many people who have been imprisoned for more than one year still find ways to obtain guns.
And, to be honest, I think it's a good idea for every household to have
a weapon of some sort, for when the bad guys get here with the dirty
bomb which they will inevitably obtain. You may all have to protect
your food, your water, and your lives.
I live out in the sticks....it would take the deputies forever to get here.......so, we are armed.....
I also have a Glock in the car......

OK, give up your car!
I would like to target shoot and I can and WILL defend my sons, DH and home if any bad guys get by Gypsy.
if you were on that crowded EL train in the morning rush hour and some
drug crazed nut started firing a gun at everyone wouldn't you feel
better if some person/persons with a conceal carry pulled his/her gun
and shot that person down and ended all of the horror?
It seems to me that the main reason being expressed it a need to protect one's self and secondly a sense of exercising one's constitutional right. I am curious where this need for protection comes from. Does the average American living in an average community feel like they need to have a gun for protection? Are locked doors or alarm systems not adequate to give a sense of security? Do you chose to carry a concealed weapon because you feel threatened or in danger in public? Is there some paranoia?
"easy access to guns and society's acceptance of
violence are part of the problem in the United States."
Do you agree at all with this statement? Does the fact that soooo many other people own guns have an influence on your choice to own a gun? Do you wish less people carried guns (excluding you of course!)? Does is concern you that the US leads in gun deaths?
I am asking these questions because I am genuinely interested in the 'thinking' behind guns. I agree that banning guns does not solve the problem, so I am not arguing that.
