    Take the test...

I failed. I clicked on the dogo first.

I failed. 3X before I found the right one.

Wow I did really bad at that.  I looked at that picture but it didn't seem right.  I thought the legs were a different length (trying not to give it away to those who haven't tried yet).

    • Gold Top Dog

I failed. I decided incorrectly between the APBT and the Ca De Bou.

People really get JRTs and Labs mixed up with APBTs?

    • Gold Top Dog

the Ca de bou almost had me... ALMOST... all the ones i've seen were fawn in colour, had cropped ears and docked tails.. but i found the right one on a lucky guess lol

The thing that I really wanted to point out, was that since so many people have a hard time identifying the APBT , ANYTHING that looks even remotely like a pit bull, is accused of being one.....pit bull, or not.

"Okay, what kind of dog attacked you?"

    "A pit bull."

yes but the other thing.. or things.. to remember is that several of those breeds have been specifically bred to be GUARD dogs against man or beast. many of them spring from the same blood stock.. now... where the pit bull breed deviated from the non-man biting standard escapes me... what idiot decided to take a DA dog and turn it human aggressive is beyond me....

Now if it was MY test i would have a bit of breed history behind each picture, not just the name. people need to stop being so naive in thinking either ALL pit bulls are bad or that ONLY pit bulls bite, or that only CERTAIN types of dogs bite.. ALL DOGS BITE. if they have mouths and teeth.. then they can bite. its that simple. i wish they would flash it across the freakin national news!

I think that part of the problem is that there are sooooooo many mixed pits out there that a lot of the bully breed mixes all have the same look about them. I would guess that is why people can't recognize a pure bred pit.

    Good idea.

    Exactly!

well I took a long time but I did get it on my first try - I have spent a lot of time looking at bully breeds though so knew quite a few of the close contenders Wink

I got it right on the first try but so what.  Pit Bull isn't a breed an APBT is.  There are a number of breeds that are of the pit bull type.  Do you really expect people to be breed experts in identifying these dog.  After all it has been noted that many of these breeds have common backgrounds and look similar.  Instead of worrying about the exact identification of the dog breed you (collectively) should really be worried about all the severe bites that are occurring and the reasons behind them.  People need to be working at reducing the problems that are occurring that lead to these attacks instead of playing guess the breed games or guess what,  the breed or breeds that you love so much will be legislated out of existence.

I've done this one before so didn't have trouble with it...I think they picked about as un pitty looking a pitty as they could on purpose tho! sly dogs!

    • Gold Top Dog

i kind of agree... it also looks more like a pup to me.

Tim i agree with you 100% there. we can guess all day long but that doesnt change the fact that people and dogs are both being harmed by ignorance.. i dont care much about the breed.... i care more about the INDIVIDUAL dog i'm confronting and what emotions he's conveying....
