Is your dog allowed on furniture? Why or why not?

Mine are allowed on the furniture and bed, but Snuffa usually prefers the floor, but goes through fazes of sleeping on the couch.  Kayjin likes his dog bed  My dogs don't shed though, so luckily I have little to no hair to deal with.

mine are allowed in my bed, but i have leather couches, so no go there!

no furniture for Bugs.  Neither DH or I thought it was good to do that so it was an easy decision, made easier because Bugs has no inclination to go on it.  In the morning he might try to back up onto your lap (on the couch or chair in that room) but its your lap he's after.  We didn't have a particular reason but hair, drool, and his size are good reasons in hindsight

Interestingly like Thalie's dogs he does go on our outside swing, if a good human is on their Smile and he will join you on the bench on the deck.

Yes, mine are allowed.  I sit on the couch to use my computer (I made a small stand for it) and I like having Kenya next to me.  She just sleeps and keeps me warm.  She curls into a little ball with her head on the pillow and barely takes up any space even though she's a German Shepherd.  It's sometimes annoying when she is wet, like today the dogs were wrestling during and ice storm, but I've thrown an old towel down.  I can also take off the cushion covers and wash them if I want.  Coke is only allowed on the couch when no one else is on it because he is too big and won't lie still.  I don't care if he sleeps on it when I'm not around.  Coke actually likes to sleep in this little space between the end of the couch and the wall, where I keep extra blankets.  He's made his own nest there.  Both dogs also sleep on the bed.  Again, I don't care as long as it's not when I'm in it.  I do let Coke sleep with me sometimes when DH is working or staying up late.  The dogs have 3 dogs beds between the two of them in our room so when we say "off!" they have to go on a dog bed.  My bedspread is machine washable.  If I don't want the dogs in the bed room, I keep the door shut.  I have three cats that have always been allowed on the furniture and they produce a LOT more hair and do more damage (scratching).

Neither dog has every scratched, ripped, or chewed a piece of furniture. Neither dog has ever been possessive of furniture or tried to fight over it.

Those are my rational reasons, but I cannot say "no" to this face:

all the sofas in my house is leather, so cokes learned very early on she's not allowed to jump on it.  so now she will once in awhile come over to either me or my sister, and "asks" to be let on.... which is very rare though and she only does it when she's extremely tired and sleepy.  (she has to cuddle someone/something in order to go to sleep.)

i have evicted her from my bed because i have a king size bed and cokes for some reason has to sleep on me...which is totally uncomfy for me. so i moved her crate into my bedroom and made her a nice comfy bed to fit in her crate with her name on it.  late at night, i am usually at my desk, and cokes will usually ask to sleep on my lap or behind me on my chair...(people said westie's werent lap dogs... they have not met cokes yet!)  until she realize how uncomfy it is and that her bed is more comfy... so she will drag her teddy bear into her crate and go to sleep there by herself....

but by the time i fall asleep, at around 5 am, i am usually awoken by her scratching at my bed (she's too small to jump on by herself.) in which I pick her up and once again, she finds either a nice comfy spot ON me to sleep, or like last night, she crawled under my down comforter, with her head on my arm, and slept with me as if she was my bf..... ha ha ha ha ha.... SNORING in my ears all night long....

Sometimes I let Misty on, but I usually shoo her off after awhile, because she gets to crazy.  The cat is always on the furniture.  Tabitha barely goes on the furniture, every once in awhile when we are petting and loving on her.  None go on my bed though, and after reading so many posts anymore about animals peeing on their beds, I'm glad I don't.  LOL

My dogs are allowed on the furniture, because I love to have a dog on my lap. I lovethe snuggle time I get with them while I'm reading or watching tv, and Emma is my bed buddy. She sleeps under the covers, snuggled against me, every night. I've gotta teach her not to "lapdog" without permission, though. She really shocks people when she just hops into their laps.

Charlie is allowed everywhere but he can't get on the bed without help so I guess he only goes there when invited.  Confused

Both DH and I love snuggling with him on the couch so that was a no brainer.  We have wood floors and they aren't really comfortable to sit/lay on.  At night Charlie sleeps with us...or I should say me.  He clings to me like saran wrap and I love it.  He will sleep in his bed if we are spending the night somewhere else, but he doesn't like it and neither do I Wink

I have managed to keep mine off my bed, but to keep them off the couch is a different story. I just make sure they don't do it after they have just been playing in the backyard.

My dogs are allowed on the basement furniture. We have a finished basement with nice sectional. We put a blanket down and they can do as they please. The upstairs furniture they are not permitted on. If we have guests I want a place they can sit if the do not want a dog in their laps. As for my bed, they no sleeping on the bed is a priviledge. They are invited (often). Belle once up will sleep all night. Maxine gets hot and gets down after a couple hours. Teddi was learning. She often would get restless and we would make her get down. She was getting the hang of snuggling though! We may have another learning curve when she can finally sleep with us again.

Nope, not allowed on furniture at all.  When we first got her I was a little bit concerned because she showed some signs of resource/location gaurding.  I didn't want it to be a problem since my kids are still little, so we've never allowed her on the furniture.  She doesn't even try to get on the furniture so it's never been hard to enforce.

Sniper is not allowed on the couch or chairs in the living room, but she does have her own little chair as well as many dog beds. We also sometimes let her sleep with us in the mornings in our bed. But we never allow her up unless she "asks" politely. No jumping up on us, whining or barking. If she comes over and gives us a nice look or tail wag, we will invite her up. Smile We just like to keep our furniture as fur free as possible, and she has plenty of her own doggy beds that she isn't missing out on the couch! We snuggle plenty on the floor with her.

Out doxies were always allowed on the furniture, but not the big dogs. Since we got Maizy, our dalmatian, there really was no choice in the matter. It seems dals assume they can go on any couch or chair. It doesn't bother either of us, as we like having her between us on the couch.

They are allowed on beds upon invitation. No sofas or any other furnitute. BUT we did buy them their own pompazon(sp) chairs from Target. It's silly, but we like it!

Mosby is not allowed on furniture because he sheds so much.  He doesn't listen though...the second I leave the house he is on the couch.  I finally had to get those sofa scram things which have worked great.  And I make sure that he has a dog bed to lie on in the living room and my bedroom.  I think he is finally too old to jump up onto my bed, so I can finally stop fighting with him on that one (years of triple checking that I closed my bedroom door when I left the house).
