Ever heard of a fence for thos Killer dogs of yours?

Dear Lord those laws!!! have them legally declared vicious? Required to pay for medical bills if bitten? So if one of those dogs savages her, or her child, THEN the law does something!?!?!?

I dont like BSL, everyone knows that, but i do believe there needs to be consequences and repercussions. SOMEONE needs to rally their neighbours and make a big fuss about this to the local politicians!! and if that fails i still believe in Shoot Shovel and Shut UP. if she cant find their bodies then she cant say a word to you. she can suspect, assume, rant and rave, but the fact is she left her dogs loose. they could have been eaten by coyotes, bitten by a poisonous snake, stolen, just wandered off chasing butterflies.. any number of things befall rogue dogs. she has no one to blame but herself.

WOW!  Here in NC, the Animal Control Officer told my dad that if a stray dog comes in your yard, you have the right to shoot it.  Darn right I am gonna shoot it, especially if it is after my daughter.  It's not right that people let their dogs run loose, knowing that the dogs are aggressive.

Oklahoma sure has some um, interesting dog laws. As far as I can tell, the only way YOU won't get into serious trouble for shooting someone else's dogs is if they are chasing livestock. Do you have any? otherwise, your neighbor is legally allowed to let her dogs run lose; she is obligated to pay for any medical bills if they bite you, though. The only way you can legally force her to contain the dogs is by having them declared "dangerous dogs" and I couldn't figure out how one did that. Might want to consult a lawyer- might be cheaper to just reinforce and extend your fences. At this point your neighbor is going to know who peppered her dogs with salt or paintballs, will probably suspect you if the dogs just vanish, and she is legally in the right, as weird as it sounds. You could get in serious trouble.

I do not have any lifestock but I should buy a goat for an...escape goat?lol I just don't get how our laws seem to be on the offenders side 80% of the time! I pay my taxes, I take my animals to the vet monthly I make sure they are in the fence at all times unless out for a walk but always on a lesh. I wish they made a law stating that if you own an animal you must have to pass a home test, personalitty/mental state test. I know people would still get around it but if there dogs ever caused trouble then they could get there asses chewed out and NOT ME!  I like to think I am a good dog owner and neighbor. Im 22 the age most people are out partying and listing to music louder then all hell, But Not I. I am a quite stay at home mom who loves the county life.   Maybe I have  ashort tolerance level towards people, Kids and dogs no , But adults oh yes I am short fused . I tried again today to get ahold of the animal rights and evena  shealther across the river asking if "I" brought in these dogs if they would take them. But not being the owner they said I was not allowed to remove the two strays that have been messing with us. As for the poodles I dont care as much about them. They only bother me if I try and walk down the dirt road.* Which I have done daily for the past 11years!* I told them about the dog attacking my 3yo and even about us putting it down. They said since the child did not get wounded then I had no right to kill the dog and I think they are going to look into it. I should have shut up and never said anything but I was so upset just thinking about it all over again. Tomorrow I am taking Missy to the Vet and I hope myVet can shed a little light on things for me. His an older man but his a "No none Sence" kind of guy as is his wife. They had help'd me in the past removing a copper head from my home so I hope they might be able to do the same for these dogs. Our towns animal shealther, If you can call it that. Its a few dog houses set up where the citys water plant is at*poor doggies they stay inside a 8x8 room with cages stacked on top of one another in the dark!*. But the man who runs it is also a officer of the law said if "some how" the dogs came into town then they could deal with them but not until then.

Its messed up but yea, Pretty much someone is going to need to be hurt before they will do anything about it.

And now im having trouble with a 12yo boy who lives downt he road. Ive caught him kicking my dogs through the fence, swing a baseball at them also and yesterday he was trying to pet them when I told him to " LEAVE MY DOGS THE "F" ALONE!" And as sooon as I walked away I caught him out of the corner of my eye pissing on my dog Max! I need to follow him home and speak with his parents about it. Because they way he acts his going to end up hurt if he does that to other dogs. My dogs are well trained * there also to dumb to be mena..lol* To try and get him but thos strays are not.

my local news station has a "problem solver" section in the evening news where local citizens write or call in about a serious problem - for example last night a woman's cat escaped out of her house, was picked up by animal control and was euthed after only a day of being in the shelter.. the day BEFORE her owner came to look. the limit is supposed to be two weeks for healthy animals, which this one was, sick or badly injured animals get PTS for humane reasons - so the problem solver thing was all OVER that shelter. people got fired, demoted etc.... but lol this is Florida. we have a lot of politicians and big suits down here that shake their fists and demand justice....  still if you contacted the media and tell them everything then maybe someone will sit up take note.

i dont believe you should wait for someone to be seriously injured BEFORE you take action. hell... what if the "bite" that spurred you to action was the bite that ended your child's life? it can happen in a split second!! wth is wrong with those people??

Oh that poor woman! I feel so sorry for her and the loose she went through, how unfair! Oh believe me I think about that everyday nearly, Maybe thats why Im seeing more gray... Its to the point where I keep my kids locked up in the house 24/7 Im so scared to take them out int he yard to play!

Ok, here's something that wouldn't be traceable: antifreeze in meat.  No, I am NOT for this, but if it's YOU dogs and kids vs. the Cujos out there, yours should be alive. Just lace some hamburger with antifreeze and put it near their house. Bingo--problem solved.

The more humane way, of course, is to shoot them.  The animals won't suffer.  One piece of advice: DO NOT bury them on YOUR property.  Take them forty or fifty miles away and get rid of them out in hunting territory.  Someone may think they were killed by hunters.  If you do this, make sure to use a caliber that hunters use; i.e., no .22s if you're in deer hunting season.  If it's bird season, you're fine!

The police and AC people sound like they are waaay interbred.  It's a  good thing you're around to infuse some new blood into the gene pool!Wink

Also, why aren't the people whose dogs tore down the fence paying for your fence? Their animals destroyed it, so they should be paying for it, not you. Some people are SCUM.

    • Gold Top Dog

Because the owner passed away last year and his son who now owns everything that was his comes down once a year.

Wow what a horrible situation.  If these dogs are wild and danerous I can't believe you have to live it!  Short of killing the dogs what can you do?  What ever you do be sure you are not putting your animals or children in danger.  Antifreeze could backfire if your dogs get into it.  You say your afraid of getting yourself with vinagar so becareful not to shoot your self with a gun while being attacked!

This dosen't sound like a place where I would like to live.  I know its not always an option but I would move the hell out!!

its a shame though that the decent people have to move over or out and give way to the rat brained idiots out there. when someone shot my cats last year i was ready to start a neighbourhood war ... but i put myself in the position of the LIKELY suspect... he's a crippled retired prison guard. he cant really move around well, so his only entertainment outdoors is bird watching and he LOVES martins. he has hand raised baby martins and keeps a vigil for their predators... which apparently were my two cats. the real issue that chaps my butt is i WISH he had told me my cats were on his property and i would have taken steps to stop them, even if that meant keeping them indoors 24/7.. And besides that.. i only suspect that old man... they both died during two different hunting seasons so anyone could have done it really.. even the girl across the street lost a cat. but the old man bird watcher is her grandad... so i wonder if he would go so far to shoot ANY cat that comes on his property, regardless of owner?

i would bet the stray dogs wont be missed if someone actually did kill them... is there anyone feeding them? if not then they are no different than a coyote.. and coyotes have been well documented in snatching kids and carrying them off to the woods. i would stop calling authorities and just do something about it. i am leary of using poison of any kind because it can effect other animals along the food chain.. my sister's collie ate a rat that had eaten rat poison and the collie died too and no one really knew why until my sister mentioned she had put rat bait in the barn that winter. my mom is also talking about putting rat poison out in her barn but i'm rather against it .. not because my dogs eat rats but because my cat does.. if you dont have to worry about your own pets getting out and getting into the poisoned meat then you could go ahead and do that... i even suggested it earlier.. but the consequences are harsh if it goes wrong. if any other animal (foxes, badgers, etc) get into it then they'll die too.. but most people dont like those types of animals anyway so it might be a good thing.  i dunno....

Pinned in your truck for two hours, per your topic starting post.  What would happen if you would have gotten out of the truck?  I imagine your life would have been in danger.  That being the case, you are justified in using deadly force in self defense.  If you have no gun, start the truck, and run them over.

If they are in the neighborhood, what's to stop them from attacking before you enter, or after you exit your vehicle?  Forget spray, bb's, or the .22, get at the very least a .38 or 9mm.  These are readily available used, and cheaper than the deductabe you will be paying if these dogs tear you up, should you live.

The problem with poison is that you can't control who or what consumes it. It is not something I would ever recommend. Also, even though the dogs are a threat, they deserve a more human death than kidney failure from anti-freeze.

I hit one today with my truck while comeing around a sharp corner. He wouldnt move out of the way and I couldn't stop. He was dead before I pulled over to check. I put him inthe back of my truck and took up out to the flats and dug him a hole. Even tho he was a a mean dog I didnt feel right leaving him on the rode.

its sad but at the same time probably a bit of a load lifted off your shoulders. i imagine if he was in the right hands he would have been a wonderful companion instead of a monster.... and yes i would have done the same thing too and buried him. i'm sure a lot of people wouldnt have bothered. in the end we all should remember that the dog is also a victim here Embarrassed
