Ever heard of a fence for thos Killer dogs of yours?

I say shoot her....JUST KIDDING...maybe....lol It was here that we had the crazy guy shooting dogs.  But they were always contained and got out once..they also were not attacking him they were running away from him when he shot....No in your case, I think I would have to DEAL with it like they said and get rid of the dogs...I'm sure I'm gonna get alot of slack for this one but you putting them out of their mysery will probably be what is best for you and the dogs.....please don't yell everyone....I am very against any kind of violence against animals but when it comes to keeping you and yours safe...you have to do what you have to do. Sorry....

Well that certainly would do.  My husband suggests a stun gun!  LOL  I'm surprised your county doesn't have any ordinance on dogs running wild!   That's just ridiculous.  You may want to check out the laws in your state about this, which should cover all of your counties.  Sorry to hear about that, it would be very frightening, especially too when you have your daughter with you.  But carrying the 22 around, might make people take notice of you and keep their dogs, cats, kids, wives, husbands, etc. all in the house when you go walking!  Wink

I took some photos and drew a small photo of what is what in my yard along the fence area that was broken by these dang dog!

Here is the set up of my yard before things got messed up.

Heres the drawning of it after wards!!!

Heres a side view of the damage that was done to my large gate and siding.

    front view

There used to be a realllly nice chine link fence there../cry

I feel so cheap and crappy for rigging it but until Dec I cant pay what they want to fix the gate and fence.=(

    Not true for everyone!

Take a picture of the dogs. Then paint a target on the pic in red with the dog being the center of it.  Then punch a hole through the bullseye(It is supposed to look like a bullet hole)  Below it write something like "This time I only shot them with a camera, next time they won't be so lucky."  and leave it on their primarily used door while they are not home.

So it probably wouldn't work, but it is worth a shot.

Sounds to me like the dog's owner might need a BB in her A$$ too!  I know how you feel.  My neighbor has some pretty aggressive dogs.  They have injured Rocky twice, in MY yard!  One day the man was standing outside and he watched his dogs charge at me and my daughter.  He didn't even try to call them back.  I was in the house with my daughter before those dogs got in my yard!  I won't hesitate to pop them with a bullet.  I hate to say that but if the owner will watch his dogs charging at a 3 year old, he doesn't need to have the dogs.  I contacted animal control and they told me that Yes, there is a leash law BUT it's not really enforced.  What's the point in have the law then??

Not a good idea.  That could be construed as a threat of animal cruelty and could land a person in jail.

Also the BB gun idea is not good.  People again have been convicted of animal cruelty for that.

Outright shooting the dog on your property is only legal if the dog is threatening your livestock (dogs and cats don't count).

The best bet is to live trap the animal on your property and take it to AC or the sheriff and have them deal with it as a nuisance animal or prove that the dog has threatened a person, then it could be considered a potentially dangerous dog and would have to be confined.

Im tired of the cops out here in my town. I took photos of my damage fence right after it happend and after I "patched" it. They said my dogs couuld have done it...Right. not like My comment on CATCHING the dogs doing it counted for anything. I even took photos with my cell of the dogs standing on my truck hood not letting me or my kids out! I sweat to god It was like being in the front row for "Cujo". My husband has already shot and killed one of the three strays after it jumped the fence and tried to grab Hannah!!!!!!!!!!! Hannah was sitting outside with Samson back in July when I was watering the dogs. The next thing I know Im hearing hannah screaming at the top of her lungs the dog has her by her skirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Samson jumped in and riped the dog anew. I started screaming for my husband when he brings out the 22 and shoots the dog. I made a report to the police here but since the dog was dead they said the likely hood of the other two bothering us again wasn't likely. It was shortly after this that the remaining dogs tried to break through the gate.

...rat bait.. or a well placed bullet. sorry but i draw the line at attacking kids or even attempting to attack kids. some friends of mine had the same thing happen when we were little kids. some neighbours let their dogs wild.. chased the family into the house and wouldnt let them come out. also killed all their pet birds that were supposedly safe in the coop... WHILE the kids were watching. their dad "took care of it" as soon as he got home too. it was a sad situation in the end... and the saddest part was the owners of those dogs won the lawsuit for animal cruelty. no one even glanced at the fact that these dogs tried to attack two little kids and their mom, or that the dogs slaughtered a bunch of birds, all they saw was two dead dogs... their dad didnt do the shoveling part.. if he had then no one could have done anything.

i know some people say animals have no rights and are victims of cruelty but in this case everyone is suffering, the dogs are neglected, no one wants to take responsibility for their actions AND people's lives are in danger. the kindest thing here would be to just end it. if no one contains these dogs then they are strays and virtually wild and dangerous animals and you have a right to defend your property. if you can get a cop or animal control official to advise you (on record) and explain what they mean by YOU handling then.. i would do exactly as they say... and handle it.

and if a dog is ever standing on the hood of my car acting like Cujo i think i would put the car in gear and do my best to make that mutt look like a pancake.

perhaps buy a paintball gun.  and some paintballs, let the paintballs sit for several months until they get stale, that will make them hard, but will probably still break on impact, but they might not.  That would hopefully deter them

    • Gold Top Dog

Oklahoma sure has some um, interesting dog laws. As far as I can tell, the only way YOU won't get into serious trouble for shooting someone else's dogs is if they are chasing livestock. Do you have any? otherwise, your neighbor is legally allowed to let her dogs run lose; she is obligated to pay for any medical bills if they bite you, though. The only way you can legally force her to contain the dogs is by having them declared "dangerous dogs" and I couldn't figure out how one did that. Might want to consult a lawyer- might be cheaper to just reinforce and extend your fences. At this point your neighbor is going to know who peppered her dogs with salt or paintballs, will probably suspect you if the dogs just vanish, and she is legally in the right, as weird as it sounds. You could get in serious trouble.

You can also put them in the freezer. This will allow for a serious bruise but it will not kill them. I know this from experience as I have administered first aid to my son who was shot multiple times with a "frozen" paint ball. He looked like he had come from a hockey game where he had been the goalie and guarded the net naked.
