Ever heard of a fence for thos Killer dogs of yours?

I decided today to take Max for a walk with me and my daughters. We where about a block from our house when three poodles  attack us. Max being the baby he was stood behind me crying. These dogs lived in a home that had no fence, and they where not ona leash.*duh*. So after running away as fast as I could with the tree kiddos, all the while being followed by these ugly poodles, I made it home with one shoe... Once home I called the Animal control center for My town. Saddly we live to far out of town for them to do anything about it. They told me to get ahold of the county and ask them. So I decide to call the county about seeing what could be done. The woman stated that even if the dogs had attacked us there is nothing they will do about it because the county does not have a leash law. She said we had to "deal" with it. Deal with it? So, If I was walking with my kids and one of these animals attacked, I would just DEAL with it?! I hate to be a meanie about it but this is not the only case of agressive dogs where I live. Five years ago The mand who lives across from me had three dogs that pulled my 8week old dashound through the fence and killed her. I wittness it in horror, It only took three seconds before they pulled her out and had her in three pieces. The owner atleast paid for the vet bill in that case but his dogs also run loose. And now that the owner is dead thos dogs are still running free. Yet when we make conplaints to the polic department they say " its out of our hands" and hang up. What can I do to feel safe again while walking? Im not even safe getting out of my truck, Thos three dogs once pinned me in my truck for over 2 hours not letting me out! These 6 dogs in total are out of control and yet no one will take action! Its to the point where if I catch any one of those dogs near my home I might be tempted to grab my 22 instead of my air riffle next time.

One thing that really bothers me is irresponsible pet owners. I'm sorry for your experiences with various dogs. Can you carry pepper spray? I do. Or a squirt bottle of vinegar? A good stream of vinegar in the eyes will deter most dogs. I would support you to carry the .22 but would hate to see you get in trouble! LOL (just kidding!)

I had thought of pepper spray, But my luck I would use it on myself! And that stuff HURTS !lol I hate to be mean and try to shot them but I just dont feel like anyone will do anything about these dogs and Im SCARED. One night the stray pack tore the side of my fence yard down to ATTACK my Chow. Infact I can take a picture to show you the make shift fence that we now have. It will cost around 900$ to replace that section of our fence and ATM I just cant affored it. I use a BB gun on them tho and I DO NOT FEEL BAD ABOUT IT! But a BB in the butt doesnt keep them from comeing back. Over the last hour I have noticed the poodles are sitting withen view of my fornt door. Did they follow me home or what?! Its creepy! These dogs have never bothered to many other people from what I know. But seems like they have picked me as their favorite "mark".-_-"

That's strange.  My dad shoots stray dogs with his BB gun and they never come back.  I hate to sound mean here but if I were you, I would keep your .22 within reach.  I know that may sound harsh to some but when the local animal control tells you to "deal with it" then you have to take matters into your own hands and protect yourself and your family.

I have a high power BB gun. I use it to hunt rabbits and what not around my land. I pump it up three times and ive knocked one of the strays flat on his butt. He was the one who pulled my puppy through the fence.=( These dogs have tried to pull the bumper off my truck once when I was driving by! Since then they will run with my truck for about three blocks. Its to the point im going to go out of my way to hit them or shot them. And I HATE to hurt animals but with these dogs, I can honestly say if they got a ahold of a small child , The baby wouldnt live. Also tempted to drug them and drop them in front of the police station and say HERE YOU GO!!!

there was a thread recently about crazy people feeling a strong need to carry guns while jogging... maybe someone else can locate it because i cant!!

not saying carry a gun, just saying this is only one reason why people feel a need... to protect themselves from these idiots!!

sorry it happened to you.. and yeah i can think of a few ways to handle it.. but the only "nice" way would be to storm onto their property, beat on their door and call them every name in the book...

Well I talked with the owner and she said " Its none of your Biss what my dogs do! They belong to me not you. So get off my door step before I call the police on you for tormenting my dogs into "attacking you"......

if thats the case then i would certainly handle it good and proper the next time..i dont like hurting animals either, but i refuse to let an animal hurt me or anyone/thing i care about. you should video tape the next incident and send it to the news station and tell them there needs to be a change in the law. there is no excuse this insanity.

If they are not listening to the bb gun I have a fix that will work. It is not fun for the dog. My father used to take a 410 shotgun shell, remove all the bb'x and load it with small grains of rock salt. Strays come in and chased the livestock got a round of salt in their hides which always resulted in them heading for the hills at full speed. He had a rifle for those who returned the second time to chase livestock. I cannot recall ever seeing him or hearing him tell of having to use the rifle.

It is sad that people allow their animals to behave in this manner. I support you "dealing with it" and if that includes a 22 or a shotgun then it sounds to me like you have tried to be civilized about it. The bottom line is you have to protect your animals, your children and your property.

I agree something along thos lines has got to be done. I have owned/lived in this house for 13years. I have ALWAYS been nice to thos around me, Excluding the kids who torment my dogs through the fence.

My Uncle used to do that. I never thought about it. I dont like to keep such high power guns around due to my 3 and 2yo girls. A 22 is the highest power I keep around. Now if they came into arms lenght ive got a few swords...lol But thats to crule!

I really have tried. I talked with the woman and the county and still, Nothing. They NEED to get the L-law out here!! I don't care if you live out in the county its no excuse for any animal to be running around 24/7 to do what ever they want.

A little off? I think she been out of her Rocker for the last 30years. .. Sad thing is she maybe 10years older then I but from all the coke she looks 40. She happend to be my brothers ex gf and I grew up with her. I didnt know she was the owner until she came to the door! I only noticed who she was by the cherry birthmark across her nose.

Get a few canisters of Direct Stop.  JMHO...Call the county and find out what the law is about being able to shoot dogs that are threatening you.  The first time, use Direct Stop, the second time use bb's.  If the stupid b*&%$# doesn't contain her dogs after that, do what you have to do - but have a witness.

    • Gold Top Dog

sounds personal then. she probably recognised you too.... if anyone else had come to her door complaining she might have been nicer and more compliant.. but because there's a history there.. nope. sounds vindictive to me. and crazy/vindictive is scary!!!
