ok how do you convince a couple of two week old puppies to nurse from a bottle?
...long story but here i am with them.... they arent mine either so i cant exactly run them up to the vet and drop them off as surrendered pups.... unless i lie.. and i would prefer to not do that.. yet.
so yes.... if all else fails and they still wont nurse i WILL indeed lie like a dog to the owner.. but right now i'm asking for the sake of knowledge. how do you get them to eat? they're hungry. they want to eat... but i'm guessing the formula isnt as tasty as the real thing? or could it be the bottle? they wont take a bottle OR a syringe... well they will lap up a tiny bit from the syringe but then they lose interest in search of a teat - i think?
i know mom is the best thing but their mom is sick and her milk has dried up. they are only with me for five days because their owner is at work and cant do this..
and please PLEASE i beg you... i already know the rules about breeding and being responsible. they arent mine, i'm just doing a favor for someone and these guys are here now and are the only survivors.
could it be the type of bottle? or the smell of the new location? i remember when i was a little kid our dog had puppies and they werent opposed to sucking on your fingers or each others ears if they couldnt get a teat.... so whats up with these two?
