What do you feed your cat?

I never drink milk, never have. On the rare time I have cereal, i drain all of the milk off of each spoonful before eating itHuh? If I ate cereal on a more regular basis, I'd buy soymilk, but as I only have a bowl once every three months or so, it's not worth it

I was just going to ask that too, don't we ALL lose the enzymes to digest milk? I mean why wouldn't we. It's for babies. I'm huge on the anti-milk bandwagon. It just doesn't make any sense for any adult of any species to drink it. You can get much better sources of calcium.

I don't like milk either.  I haven't had so much as a single glass of cow's milk.  No milk since I my mom was done breast feeding me! (and I had soy formula after that).  Only 1/4 of humans on earth can even digest milk, and I don't know of any other mammals that need to have milk beyond their mother's milk.  Sure it's OK in small amounts and people LIKE it, but it doesn't mean people or animals HAVE to have it.  My cats like a lot of crap that's not good for them, but it doesn't do them much good.  They would even eat onion if I left it out and that can kill them.

My cat gets 1/4 c of dry food in the morning (either Solid gold or Innova Evo) and a 3 oz can of wet food in the evening. I was feeding good quality wet food but I've been having to budget a bit more lately so right now it's Fancy Feast. The whole point of the wet food is for the moisture content anyway imo.

Oh and he gets some salmon oil on his dry food.

I do the same thing. I use the canned food for moisture for my UTI kitty. I was feeding Wellness but I got to a point that I couldn't afford it. (cat food is so expensive!) The cats eat some dry food, right now it's Wysong Uretic mixed with Purina One Urinary Tract Health, sometimes they get CS or Natural Life or Felidae but recently my cat got another bladder infection and was only peeing dribbles. Switched him instantly to Purina One UTH and he's peeing like Niagra Falls again. They get 9 Lives or Friskies canned food every day. I actually prefer 9 Lives over Friskies since most formulas are grain free but my one cat will only eat two of the 9 Lives flavors.

KC has health issues, arythmeia and irritable bowl disease.  Basically he can't keep food down.  He has been on prednisone and antenlol for years and he is mainting his weight.  He loves dry food but it comes right up, so we give him canned.  He was on Rx food, but he didn't like ti and refused to eat it.  I have been rotating food and mixing in baby food, chicken or turkey and peas.  Recently he decided the he likes Science diet canned turkey, mature and he's been eating and keeping it down.

Mellie will and does eat anything.  She get dry, Science diet mature kibble and once a day a tablespoon of Sheba.  It keeps her from eating KC's food.

I just realized I posted twice and didn't even respond to the original subject. Right now I'm feeding Diamond active care, I like it because i can feed it to both the cat and the ferrets. It's at best a mid grade food, but it was on an insane sale at Care a lot. When I'm done I'll probably just switch back to Premium Edge. If all I had were cats I'd probably feed more canned, but I can't open a can of anything without the dogs going nuts, and Elektra drinks a ton of water anyway.

I've heard of people who give their cats and dogs the same food, and I've been scoping out all of the high protein low carb grain free dog foods to see if they look like they'd be suitable for my kitty but I'm not sure about that yet.

Purina Pro Plan/ Chicken and Rice-Kitten formula to keep the weight on my 18 year old cat.......I've tried many other foods, but this has really done the job.....

Pro Plan here, too.  Topper is 17 1/2, and Purina is the only food dry food that doesn't cause her to vomit every day.  She also gets a piece of sardine the days Caleb, the Lab, gets his.  Occasionaly I'll give her a small can of canned food.  The funny thing is, it doesn't matter what brand the canned food is.

Our 2 cats get a no name brand for cat food. Granted it may be the worst thing I can give them. But being on my budget doesn't allow me to go crazy with them. The food I buy has to last them a couple months. Besides when I got my kitten, I gave him a choice of Whiskas kitten chow or no name and he ate the no name all the time. Our older cat ate the kitten chow. Lol. They also hunt all the time and the kitten will share some of the dog's food. Maze will leave a couple kibbles in her dish for him.

My two cats eat Innova it's the only thing that Mocha cares for so he gets what he wants. I love the results I have seen with Mocha his dandruff is all gone now and both cats are silky soft. They do get canned cat food as well every once in a while it's innova as well and few other brands still trying to find ones that Mocha likes besides Innova.

Mine is now getting Nature's Variety Raw Instinct kibble in the morning and either canned Nature's Variety Instinct Rabbit or canned California Natural Salmon and Sweet Potato at night.

Mine eat Purina One Chicken and Rice, mainly because of my senior cat. I wanted to feed them premium food, and I tried several, but her condition went downhill so quickly on them that it was scary. Weight loss, severely decreased activity, coat trouble, litterbox issues. She's not the hearty eater she used to be, and I have trouble keeping her weight up. Once I switched back to the Purina which she has eaten most of her life anyway, her condition improved within a couple of weeks. My younger cat does well on anything, but I don't want to buy two foods.....I was buying two foods for a while, but it was such a pain to keep them out of eachothers food....so it's Purina for everyone. They also get some wet food a few times a week, Fancy Feast.

Unfortunately, I have to feed a prescription diet--Royal Canin Urinary S/O. Not the most awful food out there but not what I'd be feeding if there wasn't a medical issue involved.

My Zarina has the same problem, UTI and a deformed kidney. The vet prescribed Hills C/D or Proplan urinary for a while. But after we stop the diet, he develop more crystals so the best thing to do is to keep her in diet. My other cat can't stand look at her plate a realize that they're not eating the same thing, so both eat the same, with canned food on holidays and birthdays... and treats. No milk. And sometimes they share an olive.

Tigger gets 9 lives can.  1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at dinner time, plus he has hard food, which varies.  He usually gets 9 lives hard, but sometimes we'll substitute depending on money situation at the time.  He's not picky at all!

And he's very healthy looking!  LOL

My cats have been eating Healthwise lately.  They have also eaten Eagle Pack, Nature's Variety, Evo, Inova and others.

Felidae, but they liked Orijen better.
