If it were my dog I'd run by the vet and have them weigh him and just make sure it's an acceptable weight.  To me, he looks like he could gain a little weight, but considering his breed and age, maybe he's just fine.  The vet will be able to give you a professional opinion.  Maybe during this time of growing and how he's exercising he needs more food right now.

gonna feed him 4(wow !) cups of innova evo red meat a day and see how he gets on , considering he is always running around like a top. maybe the vet consoltation for a 100 clams might be worth it if he doesnt put on a bit more weight. still wondering what he might be crossed with, maybe a husky cos of the blue eye? he is also pretty tall for a pitbull too 25" at last measuge at the shoulders

Double check with your vet's office but I don't get charged anything just for them to weigh her and give me an opinion.  You don't need a whole appointment just for them to check his weight.

Petsmart usually has a scale out fron of their vet offices. You can use that free most times. I have.

He looks pure handsome pitty to me. Maybe a tad American Bulldog because of the height? (I believe ABs are taller)

I have actually seen a lot of pit bulls with one or both blue eyes - I think it is a gorgeous trait.

They didn't weigh him, or ask you to weigh him when you went in?  Whenever I go to the vet they ask me to have Harley hop on the scale and they jot it down.

My pit goes 90 lbs. She is not skinny at all. She is fat but I like to see them have some weight on. When I get a pic up I will show ya. I think it's what you like.Smile

I don't think he looks too skinny according to ADBA standards.

That said, I personally like my dog a little more filled out...but it's just a prefence...and the result of numerous training treats; and an Italian mother who is constantly spoiling the granddoggyEmbarrassed

I am still trying to get the hang of this picture thing; so I hope this works.

Despite being an older thread, I'll toss in my two cents.  I would rather see a dog on the lean side.  This dog is still growing, and while yeah, I *might* want to put a couple pounds on him, I'd not want more than a couple.  Extra weight is hard on the bones and joints, not to mention the internal organs.

One of my boys has trouble holding weight in the winter months.....and I do add a bit to his daily ration, but only because when you see hip bones on a double coated GSD, they ARE toi skinny.

And, agreed, that boy has some beautiful muscle tone!

Personally I'd like to see more weight on the dog. He is within what ADBA people would consider good weight but I don't like to see rib.

I feed my adults 4 cups a day
