Oh no!!!!!!! My poor little Winston!!!! I hope you are doing okay. Keep us posted, and we'll start the prayers and get out the candles.

Take a deep breath, accept our cyber hugs and keep calm. Winston just needs you to keep your head right now hun. He'll feel your stress and it wouldn't be good for his little system since it's already under stress.

I am so glad your friend came by.

Hugs and kisses to all of you!

    Paws and fingers crossed.

Take care of you and Winston.

Let us know if there is anything you need and how he is doing.

How old is Winston?  I thought he was 3 yrs old?

    HUGS

OMG! WHAAAT!!  I'll be waiting for an update.  How accurate are those tests??
    • Gold Top Dog
When  was his last round of shots? Sometimes (a week or two) after they get their shots, they can test a false positive. I really hope that's what it is.

Good luck and prayers go with him to the vet- most important thing is to for him stay hydrated- they'll probably give him IV fluids. If it really is parvo, I think he has an amazing chance because I think was caught early. If he was running and still playing, then it sounds like you caught it in time.

Parvo is so sly an illness that when the dog actually gets the bloody diarrhea and lethargy, they are very sick. I've worked at the vet's office (title was a "veterinary technician's assistant"- basically a kennel tech with some perks) and most of the time when the owners realize that their pup is sick- then they are very sick.

Prayers are going Winston's way, I know you must be going crazy with worry! Please let us know.

OMG Do you think it came from the vacuum...?   Im so sorry to hear about this!  Yes I agree at least you found out very quickly if the test was right.  Hope all goes well at the vet!!!!

I am so hoping the test wasn't right! I have been checking back every 10 minutes or so hoping to get an update.

I just rechecked this thread and I sure hope that test was wrong! I'm SO glad though you caught it so soon if that's what it really is! Much better chances that way....oh god....this is really scary stuff....let us know what happens![:o]

    We're back.

The test at the clinic was also ;positive.

We've been given the IV liquids and antibiotics to do the home treatment, and I was shown how to do it.

He's sleeping now, and I had a pretty rough night, so I'm going to go nap with him a bit.  I know that this is going to get smelly, because they said the diarrhea will get worse before it gets better.  I'm trying to figure out how to deal with that so it doesn't seep into my wood floors (which are ;practically bare and need to be refinished desperately) and permanently smell like parvo poo. :(  I know that there will be a point when he won't be able to make it to the puppy pad or outside.

What's scary is they say there is a 50/50 chance.  Is it overly optimistic of me to think there's a better chance than that?  I really don't want to think that's he only has a 50/50 chance.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes.  I'm off to rest a bit.

    OMG. [:(]

Keep your optimistic attitude! That could make all the difference, I think if you stay positive and do everything you possibly can he's got a much better chance. You're a great mom and he'll get his good energy from you. Try not to get too down. I don't know if there's anything I can possibly do, but if there is please let me know.

Give that boy a kiss from me and take care of yourselves. ((((HUGS))))

I think the more positive you can be about the better for now.  Ive read lots of people here say that they can pick up on our feelings, so thinking positive may help his chances a bit.  Im so sorry!  This is terrible![sm=sad.gif]  Im am hoping for you that everything goes okay!

How long is the treatment?  Do his chances get better as you treat?  Or the 50/50 is after all is said and done?  Do you know where it came from?  The vac.?  Why is it 50/50 when you detected it so soon?  Seems like they would be better than that, but I know it serious.  Maybe hes just trying to prepare you in case...?

My thoughts are with you!  Get some rest and please keep us updated!
    • Gold Top Dog
Dang, I was so hoping that was a false negative! Stay positive... we'll pray him through this!

Get some rest. Give him some loving from all of us. I don't know a lot about Parvo other than it's a very nasty thing, how careful do you have to be about Romy or do they think he's okay since he's had all his vacs?

Could you possibly use some old sheets and blankets or even rugs you don't care about anymore to throw on the floor for now? Not a perfect solution I know but it's the first thing I can think of to give the most covering in one area.

Lexi, prayers coming from Jersey I will be lighting candles for Winston, maybe we need the i-dog crew to do it all together one night, tomorrow  sound good?
I attached a link how to keep it clean, it lives in the ground where the feces was for up to 5 months, so You need to get that floor clean.

I don't know if this will make you feel any better but a few years ago i had a pup that got parvo and in a few weeks she was better. I know how rough it is but stay positive and hopefully all will go well.  I'll keep you and Winston in my prayers.

    Lexi:

The strongest, warmest healing thoughts and well wishes headed Winston's way from all of us.  Keep a positive outlook - I know I've read more than one post here of I-doggers whose pups have been treated and made it through Parvo.  And it can only help him to feel your positive energy. All fingers and paws crossed here.
