balancing things out.. my dog is so smart

One night Willow and I were out walking.  Suddenly, she started growling and wouldn't budge and just kept staring off into the distance.  I didn't see or hear anything so I told her "come on, let's go".  But, she wouldn't turn her back.  Well, a minute or two later, a seemingly mentally unstable man came walking out from the area she was looking at, flailing his arms and talking loudly to himself.  She stared at him until he was out of site, she would not turn her back  on him until he was sufficiently gone for her.

I thought that was amazing because I didn't hear the guy at all until I actually saw him.

Zoey opens the doors too. she started by just pushing on them, then she started pawing the handle,so i added a string for her to pull. I have since removed the string.Dogs have no sense of privacy and she kept barging in at "private times"

if she really wants in though she rams the door and paws the handle until it opens.

i wish i could get her to stop somewtimes. It is handy when i am carrying something, but its annoying when she is just being a bug

    My dogs are so smart....

That Xerxes taught himself how to open the door to the kitchen (by turning the knob) because I was making jerky and he wanted to steal some.

Gaia is so smart that she plays lookout for me when Xerxes is breaking into the kitchen.  And then steals whatever booty he's already pilfered.

Together they are so smart that they'll behave on walks until my cell phone rings and I answer it.  Then they both act like hooligans until I hang up.

I work in a field where verbal mediation has a huge impact on behaivor.  What you say is what you get....I would like to propose a different slant to the my dog is postings.

My dog is so smart that when we went to a three day eventing (cross country part of the competition) that by the third whistle to clear the course he was at the end of his lead watching for the horses who did not appear for up to 30 seconds.

My dog is so smart that she would have already walked the course and explained the timing and jump strategy to all the entrants LOL!!!
