How do your dogs feel about cats?(rwbeagles)

2 of my cats are friendly with Casey, he tries to lick them... naturally, they don't appreciate his polite offer of a bath...

Two cats, Tonka and Sammy, are forever stalking out the dog, and attacking him when he isn't looking. He aviods these two, and will even stop his game of fetch if they are in the way. Just looks at me like, mom, please help. The mean kitty has my toy!

He LOVES the foster kittens, ask him where his kitty is an he will find it, pick it up and put it back where it's supposed to be. Very gentle about the whole thing, it's extremely cute. =]

Outside cats? Fair game to him. He is a terrier after all! I'm sure if one turned on him, he would haul off in the other direction... very curious about free roaming kitties on our walks...

Eva has only ever seen a cat once, and she went crazy and wanted to play! She jumped at the fence wagging her tail and rolling over. The cat hissed at her and ran away it was hilarious. If she hadn't been in the backyard I'm honestly not sure how she would have treated the cat.

Chyna, Bevo, Brinxx, & Thea are all great with cats.  The cats can climb in bed with them without issue.  Shooter & Schatzi both want to hassle the cats a bit.  If the cats run, the the doxies are "on" it, & will give chase.

Rosco and Lexi think of them as lunch meat.

Luna was raised around them as a wee thing, and sees them when she stays with her breeder. She is good, but does like to try and get them to play.

we don't have a cat so no idea what indoor cat reaction would be BUT man oh man does he go crazy for outdoor cats - I think if he could he would attack them.  If he sniffs out a cat anywhere in the cul de sac he gets very agitated, hackles up, tail straight up and focused it is also one of the only things that after a time of being agitated and not being able to get to the cat he will bark.

Just the other day he was across the road playing with his GR friend and their cat was lurking in some shrubs.  He would lift up his head in the mid- wrestle and sniff, did this a few times and then went on the trail found the cat and man did that cat get up the tree in a hurry.  He was at the base of the tree, staring at it, fully poised. It was very difficult to get him away from the tree and to come home.

Their GR was like Bugs you need to learn to relax  - he just laid there not even watching the action

When Bugs catches living things he carries them around proudly - soft mouth

Cats I think though would be shaken and shredded like a stuffed animal its the only thing I think he really doesn't likeTongue Tied

The closest Blaze has ever came to cats/kittens is when we go to PetSmart, they have cats up for adoption, in caes with a glass over them. And Blaze will walk up to the glas and paw at it. It was cute the other day, there was 4 or 5 kittens in this one cage, Blaze waltzed up, seen them playin. Smacked hi paw ont he glass, and the kittens started to play back, all kittens and Blaze played through the glass it was adorable.

Other then that Blaze has never come in to contact of a cat. I have no doubt in my mind though that he would be gentle with it. He would be intrested and sniff it ect, maybe play hit it. We have many small animals at home, blae adores all of them, so I think just by that he would be fine with a cat the other pets may not though and thats why we dont have a cat (2 rats, 2 birds a free range rabbit. And a turtle not sure if a cat would bother with that though)

Outside is a differnt story, he sees a cat and the chase is on. I assume he thinks they are a small wild animal. since where we live many squirrels chipmunks ect all live here to. Outside animals are fair game for chase to him, though I dont think he would ever harm any if he got close enough to.

they love them-- fun to chase, if you could catch them they would probably be really tasty; except they cheat and go up the trees like those cheater squirrels. How unsporting. The stupid neighbor who refuses to keep them out of my yard also doesn't seem to care if they get splatted over the road. He seems to have an endless supply of them.

Jester sees outside cats as prey, inside cats he usually ignores for the most part.  The exception is my cat Pippin.  They love to play together.  They chase each other back and forth and pounce on each other every evening.

Lucy likes to torment to indoor cats when she wants to play, but when she isn't in the mood to play she ignores them.

Outside cats she goes NUTS over. I was worried that she might kill one if she got it, but just the other day the boys let her out without hooking up her tie-out properly and she found the neighbor's cat. I saw her chase it down, pounce in it, then let it loose so she could chase it again!

My brother's golden, Brandy, got into a tussle with my uncle's big farm tomcat when she was a pup and has been scared of cats ever since. My cat, Cletus, knows this and torments her mercilessly when she visits. The last time Brandy came over Cletus whopped her on the nose and she cried like a baby. My brother thought Cletus must have scratched her badly to make her cry like that, but then realized what a wuss his dog was when I told him that Cletus had no claws!

Our newer puppy Bella seems to get along with out 2 cats we have. I think the one thing that determines weather or not they tend to get along is what is the pecking order in the house. I know for us it is our male cat then the female then the dog. I think as long as the dog realizes that he/she is on the bottom the cats could care less about the dog.

We had another dog about 2 months ago that we got from a shelter and the cats HATED him. The dog would constantly bark and try to chew on them when he could pin them down (we ended up letting him go to another friend of ours for other reasons) but he never did get the point about the pecking order.

Bella is very gentle all around so another reason may be the dogs demenor. I know when Bella is outside with the cats she will still chase the cats but she won't try to harm them. She mainly will pin them down and lick them.

Our one cat is very scidish and doesn't like a whole lot of people but she likes the dog... Seem weird I know. Hope you have some kind of luck!!

How do my dogs feel about cats? They think they're probably delicious! Smile

Our cats and dogs are segregated. Wink

We don't have cats but Maxine WANTS one. She loves cats and rabbits. She stares at them for HOURS with out motion. She wants to meet a dog friendly cat so bad so she can really get up close. It is the one thing that transforms her from her perfect self. She comes unglued with the sight of a cat, heel goes out the window, we can start dragging the dog.

Salem likes the indoor cats, but only 1 will tolerate him. He thinks outside cats are prey and would chase them if he was off lead.

We have a lot of outdoor cats around our house. The person who lived here before us was a hoarder and had 20+ of them that she let go when she was foreclosed upon.

We do not have any cats but Gunnar has been curious and friendly when he has met cats although if they run he will gleefully give chase.

Hektor has never seen a cat and my expectation is that he would do harm to one.

If a cat is friendly, Sasha wants to play.

If it runs, she will chase it.

If it stands its ground, she respectfully demurs and leaves it alone.

She likes to "busybody" our three, but backs off when they give her evil looks.  They are not fond of dogs.

Ivan always wanted to eat cats - even the ones he was raised with.  I never, ever left him alone in the house with the cats, or free when we were sleeping.
