How do your dogs feel about cats?(rwbeagles)

Lily loves them and always wants to play but she  scares them.  I guess have a huge dog play barking at you and sticking her butt in the air would be intimidating but she keeps trying.

All my hounds are insanely obsessed with cats. All I have to do is say the word "cat" and they all go off in a frenzy seraching for the phantom kitty ... lol. When my orange tabby, Fritz was alive, the Beagles were very respectful of him - he was the boss and they knew it. After he died, and we got a new kitten, they treated her like one of the dogs; they roughouse and wrestle with her, but she loves it. Occasionally the idiot male in my siggy will snap at her when she's jumping up on the counter, but he's very hi prey drive ... he's been known to fall asleep with her. Now, my youngest is cat crazy! She LOVES the cat. She whines and cries and is just happy as a calm when she sees kitty.
None of them are too thrilled with the feral cats around here. They'll chase them and AROOOOOO their fool heads off, but I only have one that would probably ever kill a cat ... he's the brother of the idiot male in my siggy :) My cat actually had a litter of kittens last week (ugh) and decided to do so in the middle of the living room Indifferent All the Beagles gathered round & watched, some coming close, others sitting and watching the show. They were all gentle with the kittens ... except for the brother of the idiot, lol. He tried to bite the poor thing.
My mutt, however, is terrified of cats!

He stops in his tracks, his hackles go up - then he just stands there and stares.  I have a feeling that if I took the leash off, the chase would be on.

Legend was raised with cats and ignores our cats completely. Jules was also raised with them, but he's a bossy little terrier, so if he feels they're doing something they shouldn't, he'll chase them a bit. (which isn't really allowed) He will, however, nap with two of them now and then if he thinks no one is watching. Ginger I've no idea if she was raised with them, but she's completely neutral with them. She and the kitten are good friends Smile

Gunnar wants to play with them although he is uncertain how to go about doing so..

Hektor wants to hunt them down and kill them

Mind you they only see the neighbors cats since we do not nor never have had any cats here. I did spend some time with Hektor regarding the neighbhors cat but just watching him watch it, I know that should it ever come into the yard it would not be a good thing

The cats are not scared, they go where they please...the dogs are like....ack....the cat is invading space.....

max does not get along with cats, even if that means knocking someone over to get at one, blowing right throw a screen door, through window screens ect. not a good mix. that goes for anything small including little dogs

My Dogs are crazy about cats.  We have three cats and they are inside/outside cats, when they are in the house the dogs have to respect them and be nice but outside....they are fair game. lol I am forever saying 'leave that kitty alone'  The cats torture them too because they know the dogs will get a talkin' to if they chase them. Mostly it is this hilarious game of traditional cat vs dog at our house! Funny thing is, as big as my 'puppies' are they never hurt the cats....actually they get smacked around more!Big Smile

Tootsie was raised with Peaches, but if Peaches runs(usually) the chase is on and if the cat is caught she wrestles right with Tootsie.

When I had cats, Sioux loved them, but would chase any cats she didn't know (never caught any).  Maska loves cats whether they are his or not.  Fergie is indifferent to them.  Sequoyah thinks of them as fair game and would, no doubt, chase & harass if she was allowed.

My dog wants to play with my cat, but my cat on the other hand hates him.  My cat will hiss and if he gets too close will swat at him, when this happens the dog will whine, but that is it.

Freddy was raised with a big male cat that demanded respect so he just ignores cats.  My little dogs are another story.  They chase, bark, pull the cats tail, and raid the litter box.  If my old girl kitty wasn't so timid I would let them sort it out but I've had to seperate them with baby gates so my cat can live in peace.

Cat, what cat, you said cat, there is a cat ? Where ? Gosh, right there, in my lawn, must have him, must get him ! Hey, humans, don't you see there is a cat right there ? How can you live with that ? What do you mean I am not supposed to jump up and down ? You are kidding right ? (Flem speaking)

Yep, I see the cat. Let me see if I can make him go away.  Doesn't want to go away ? Come on, kitty kat, yes, closer, closer, we'll get you (Spip getting in the game).

We unfortunately (thank you irresponsible neighbor) have several free roaming cats. I sure hope they are always faster than the girls and stay on their side of the fence.

Brown used to carry Charlie around when Charlie was a kitten. He used to follow me around the house, picking up his kitty when we changed rooms lol.

Grey, poor thing, is abused by the cats. Even Deuce, who lives on the edge of a nervous breakdown, launches sneak attacks from behind the door when Grey walk in. Grey, for the most part, ignores them, even when Charlie climbs on his back, kneading the whole time, then humps his head. I tried to explain thar Charlie wasn't massaging him, but he just doesn't get it. lol

Tar rough-houses with Charlie a lot. He doesn't really mess with Deuce.

Now, that's with their cats. They ignore Brett's grandma's cat, but they'd bark their fool heads off if they saw a cat in the yard.

Lizzy wants to play with my indoor cats. I think she has finally accepted that they won't play with her. now she just licks them and sniffs them for the few seconds they'll tolerate that. she will still chase them if they run though.  outdoors if a cat runs she wants to chase it but if there is a friendly cat that comes up to us she doesn't want anything to do with it.
