That makes me want to go out and stock up on Pedigree and bring it to the local shelter. [:)]

How can less than 30 seconds of video reduce me to a bawling baby?  That shouldn't be possible  [:-]

I hate to always be the only cynic but do you really think that Purina is doing this out of the goodness of their hearts or because it is an absolutely masterful advertising tactic? I suppose if it helps the dogs it doesn't matter but I'm not ready to buy what they're selling, and I don't just  mean the food.

It would also be good to note that if you adopt a dog in 2007 pedigree will give you a month's supply of food for free --> which would be good for the shelters, if nothing else.  The link to this is below the movie above.  People who work at shelters, it's worth promoting just as an incentive....  at least they try (or pretend to try, as the case may very well be, but who knows)

I was just coming to post this.  I just saw it and starting crying my eyes out.  It makes me want to go and save every one of those babies.  Charlie will definitely be suggled up closer than every tonight!

Here's the funny part...Pedigree is made by the same company as Royal Canin...and Royal Canin makes a kennel food called Royal Canin Professional, that they promote to large breeding facilities.  They also feed puppy mills.

Royal Canin feeds our shelter.  Cats & dogs.

I rescued my dog from a Shelter, PAWS of Atlanta, 8 months ago.  She is the best dog I have ever had. by far ...  I wouldn't trade her for a million dollars.. BTW, I am now a volunteer at that shelter......

Oh, my gosh, I'm still sniffling from that commercial. My Doby Tuvok came from a shelter. He's not perfect and he still has some emotional scars from his previous owners, but he is my baby until the day he dies. I  like to adopt an adult dog because it's not as easy for them to find a home. He was two years old when I got him. He is going on nine now.[sm=smile.gif]

True, but slightly misleading... Mars bought out a french company's 56% share in Royal Canin in 2002. Mars has two subdivisions, Masterfoods and Royal Canin. They've always treated Royal Canin as a separate entity. Masterfoods is responsible for the mass-produced grocery store products, Royal Canin handles the higher-end products and veterinary diets. The two firms have little or no contact with each other... "only three managers from Masterfoods and Royal Canin are entitled to regular contact between the two firms."http://knowledge.insead.edu/abstract.cfm?ct=12883

I don't think selling food to puppymills, even at a discount, is exactly the same as supporting them. The whole puppy industry is a nasty good ol boy network highly comparable to the old tobacco empires. Everyone pretends they are actually providing a needed service, turns a blind eye to the horrifying realities, and is heavily in the pockets of other large corps and the governments (local, state, national).

I agree that Pedigree canned is one of the more agreeable grocery store foods there is. They have a puppy formula I sometimes use as a mixer on worming weeks. Maybe I'll use that more often now. [:)]

Who cares why they are doing it as long as it is bringing attention to the millions of animals with no homes....

Did anyone else see the one that looked like a bigger Pirate? [:D] That made me teary though...

OT, but my best friend's grandparents were discussing getting a puppy store puppy, so I told them to just wait unitl January, and to go to the shelter then and there would be PLENTY of puppies. And ya know what? They DID! I was thrilled.

It's Pedigree, not Purina. Just to clear that up.

And no doubt they're doing it to sell dog food!

Yikes.  Not to change the subject but that just made me think I might be pregnant, lol... I mean, I doubt it really but if it makes you cry a lot thats certainly been me lately.  Tired, and crying.[&:]

The dog food incentives that we dont feed are certainly great for the shelters... get them and give them away.

Made me cry too.  Poor doggies.  Theres just so many of them too... [:(]
