Thats a great commercial to get the word out about shelter dogs.

Yeah, the majority people think that dogs in the shelter are ALWAYS bad and theres something wrong with them. It's not always the case, and even if it is, they can fix it.

I've seen it on TV - I think that every day goes by I am more glad and more proud that we rescued a stray vs buying a purebred.  Sure we weren't able to choose all his characteristics, and we don't know his lineage, and we didn't have him at 8 wks old and didn't get to choose when to neuter.  There are even things I wish were different about him (mostly that he had less energy!).  But I will constantly consider adopting another rescue and will encourage everyone who mentions they want a dog to check out the rescue centers. Its a wonderful feeling to give one of these rejected.lost, unwanted (by someone) dogs a home and in some cases a life.
Everyone that has met Bugsy from the day we got him has commented on how gorgeous he is, how smart, and well-behaved.  Especially when he was a little guy people asked what he was and where they could get one.  LOVED IT!  Loved their faces when I said he was from the SPCA mixed breed.
And yes I love my dog and think he is just amazing.  I have posted recently that I as a novice dog owner am not worthy.  He is an awesome athlete, fast, powerful with incredible endurance.  he is so darn smart that one of my friends says he's part human.  He's gentle and playful.  He  has an intense hunting instinct, is a natural retriever (throw 3 objects he will bring you all three), he is protective etc etc
In the right hands he could do anything - thus my I am not worthy

And yes I am intensely proud of this incredible beast that someone lucklily stopped an picked up and dropped off at the SPCA

OMG!  I almost cried the first time I saw it.  It almost makes me want to buy Pedigree.

I always buy canned Pedigree puppy, for the shelter. Especially when they run the specials that they're donating money to shelters for every case you buy. I figure, it's the least offensive of the cheap foods, at least as far as I can tell, and these dogs just need something to eat.

Yah, I saw it today.  Great commercial.  I really do think it will help promote adoption and help decrease abondonment.

Here's the funny part...Pedigree is made by the same company as Royal Canin...and Royal Canin makes a kennel food called Royal Canin Professional, that they promote to large breeding facilities.  They also feed puppy mills.

I still think the commercial is great though - and - they have made some improvments on their food.

I also saw that commercial today on tv for the first time. It's great that they at least have a  commercial giving awarness about shelter animals.

Jojo the pogo- I had no idea Pedigree was by the same company as Royal Canin, and especially that Royal Canin supports large breeding facilities. That doesn't make sense that they would have a commercial promoting adopting shelter dogs, and at the same time be supporting puppy mills. That makes me sad.

I just saw that commercial and came here to mention it. Not surprised though that you've all seen it.

It is a heartbreaker. I was tempted to go buy a ton or two of Pedigree. I don't know if it's a good commercial because it will help shelter dogs or if it's a bad commercial because it will promote feeding Pedigree.  I guess if a dog is going to eat grocery store food it may as well be Pedigree.

I'm bawling - I saw it once and I swear, I thought I should just go buy some to recognize their efforts.  Buying it for the shelter isn't a bad idea....

nicely done. Hopefully that helps many homeless dogs become adopted

[:(] they could not have made that more heart wrenching. may not be the best food, but they are giving back, and that counts. alot.

I was thinking of that.  Only problem is our local shelter feeds Ol'Roy and mixes it with the food donated by our local pet shops. Hmmm, maybe they'll buy Pedigree now.

I'm glad that some big company, on national television, announced and portraited the shelter problem.  It takes alot of courage.  Think of all the "crappy" breeders that are offended by it and would stop feeding Pedigree because of it.  Seriously.  They've got guts.
