GRAPHIC THREAD-IT IS AN ASSAULT ON THE SOUL~ FUMING MAD!!

My impression is that they were throwing rocks to get the dog to move so they could get *that* on tape.  While I agree that watching an animal like that is amazing in and of itself, they could have tossed it food to make it move instead of throwing rocks....  not that I think doing anything like that is ok but my god.  I started crying for that poor dog.  A friend of mine helped a dog that now has only two legs, on the same side.  This dog moves along fine but has other issues but it is amazing how resilient dogs can be when limbs are removed or do not work.   Their final comment before the video ends, "should we kill it" might have been a compassion statement, you never know.  That was my first thought, if I had been them, I would have wanted to put the dog out of it's misery, like Ron said.  But I know that all bullets are tracked and something like that might not have been "justified".  How sad.  That poor dog.

I think that this video whould be broadcasted nationally so that all can see what these idiots are really like.

I can only hope that this is an example of war pushing people to the edge, and over.  Maybe another good argument for bringing them all home???

I think this has a LOT to do with it.  After seeing the things they have and being put in life threatening situations every day- it changes you.
I didn'tsee the video, I can imagine it was terrible. Poor thing.

I can't/won't watch it Angel, but thank you for bringing it to our attention and I will sign.  I have to focus on the good, and I don't stick my head in teh sand, I'm well aware of these "happenings."  I can only do good with positive reinforcers, which is people like you.

Recall that a while back some military men killed a family and raped their young daughter.  This isn't surprising to me.  [&o]

I contacted all the major news networks this morning as well as both my Senators, my Congressman, and the Secretary of Defence all via email from their web sites .  If enough people do that, maybe something will be done about it....

I just sent it to ABC News myself.  This is despicable conduct, not worthy of an officer, a gentleman, or a citizen of this Country.  These idiots are certainly not representative of the finest military in the world, and they need to be punished, and dishonorably discharged from the service.  No one who does this to a defenseless dog (are they now enemy combatants??) should receive any GI benefits whatsoever.

As much as I hate to play devil's advocate, as many people have hinted this is only a symptom of a much larger problem in our armed forces. The kind of life they are subjected to while stationed in a war zone like that, perhaps the kind of people that are recruited to begin with...

Everyone has a different way of dealing with horrifying situations. Some people seem to turn "hard" and ignore the humanity within themselves to avoid the pain and disgust that "normal" people would feel in similar circumstances. Incidents like this with horrible abuse and violence seem to be much more prevalent in war zones than anyone would like to admit. When soldiers are placed in mortal danger every day and have no control over their environment, even to the point where they can't tell the "good guys" from the "bad guys," one way of (unhealthily) coping is to exert control somewhere else. The "go home and kick the dog" syndrome.

If these soldiers were dogs exhibiting aggressive behaviors after suffering abuse and squalid conditions, how would we treat them? I think it's crucial to take the situation into account and resist the temptation to label them bad, evil, inhuman men. Are the behaviors apalling? Of course. But I think the "why" is also very important here.

When do men learn to grow up. Just because your a soldier doesnt give you the right to do what ever you want. Your duty is to seek justice and protect the innocent but instead they spend their time tormenting a helpless animal. This footage was just a glimspe into what they are doing. Many more animals and most likely humans as well are being tortured by these soldiers. The United States should be ashamed that their army is represented by such disgusting humans. And it casts serious doubt on what kind of nation is allowing their army to do such things. If thier soldiers can't do their job then get them out of there and find them something better to do with their time. I thought they were in their to fight terrorism but instead they are the terrorists themselves.

Unfortunately yes over in the sandboxes everything should be looked at very suspiciously.  DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT AN TERRORIST WILL DO TO KILL ANY AMERICAN?  They will and have put bomb is cats, dogs, cows and goats not to mention in the middle of roads, on the side of roads, in cars etc...,   I'm not saying that what these guys did was right because it wasn't, but the point I'm trying to make is that fact that if every U.S. personal went and picked up that cute little kitty or went and ;petted that pretty dog, or went over to help that sick looking animal they just might end up dead.  Might I also mention they really are not suppose to uses there guns unless they are fired upon first.  Also not ALL are military are like this, but I'm afraid at least from this thread most of you think they are or maybe the word "some" just needed to be use instead of "our".  I have more to say but for the moderators sake I'll keep all my thoughts on certain other comments to myself I really don't feel like arguing.  I'm sadden by this thread not only about the video, but also by some of the comment that have been made.

Also thank you "CITA" for a very well put post.

I for one do not believe that being a soldier in a terrible place is any excuse for being mean and brutal towards helpless animals. It takes a certain kind of person to have no respect or morals. I also don't belive that they have been corrupted by the war. When my father was in WWII in France, he said that everytime he had to kill someone to protect himself, a piece of his soul died. His was a long brutal war with many captures, tortures and escapes and he still had the hightest respect for people and animals.
He would find dogs that were used to blow up mine fields and nuture them back to health to the point that he would feed them his food rations as they were starving and do without himself. I agree war can do harm to ones spirit but it takes a certain kind of person to loose respect for living creatures. Saying that this is a result of their situation is pure hogwash. Cruelty is a built in flaw in some human beings and as far as I am concerned, the bad ones need to be illiminated before they cause more damage, not just to helpless animal but also to innocent human beings.
We do business with people over their and some of the stories about what these soldiers do to the innocent deserves nothing less that a firing squad. I believe that it is more of a power trip than anything else.
I am certain that their are alot of really worthy soldiers over their and I hope they personally take care of these idiots. Friendly fire would be a good option[:@

And to think that these are Americans doing this, too.  It wouldn't be tolerated in America, so why would they do it over there?!  That poor dog...   I have so much to say, but I think I'll stop there.
