I did some searching - and found a breeder - Shetland Sheepdogs - no regrets - a wonderful dog who has been my best friend for 15 years!!!!!

We got Wesley from a rescue org., we found him on Petfinder...  I must admit that I am torn with regard where our next furkid will be from.  I have always been a huge believer in adopting shelter/rescue dogs, but, being thrust into dog mommyhood with a dog with serious issues that were not disclosed by the rescue (even though we asked all the questions, spoke to the rescue rep and the fostermom many times), I can't be sure that I wouldn't go to a reputable breeder, just to hedge my bets temperment-wise.  Then again, saving a life...  it doesn't get much better than that, so we may be back on Petfinder next go round too...

Blacky and Boss were give aways from different neighbors at different times.

Choo-Choo, Abby, and Brutus were adopted from the shelter.

Waylon, Willy, and Molly are failed fosters.

Charlie (foster dog with a potential new home soon!) was found by an old man who couldn't keep him, so I took him to find him a home.

Dach (foster looking for a home) was found by an older lady who already had plenty of dogs.  She thought he was a full blooded Dachshund puppy, so thats what she told me over the phone.  I told her I could easily place him and would take him.  He is the furthest thing from a Dachshund I've ever seen!!  He was adopted this past summer, but returned, so he is available again.

We got ours from a reputable breeder.  Like many other breeds of dogs, Eskies sometimes get a bad reputation for being unfriendly to strangers.  Most of the time, those aggressive dogs are from bad breeders.  We needed an Eskie with a great temperament since he'd be around my students a lot and since he might get trained as a certified therapy dog one day.  We also needed a young dog so we could train him to "get along" with our other animals.  So, we decided to go the breeder route.  As a side note, both our cats were strays and our rabbit is a rescue.

Pepe is from the flea market sadly.  I felt so horrible for him so i had to get him and turned out he had kennel cough and was really under weight.
Athena is from some woman who we now know is under infestigation by akc and had animal abuse charges in CT.
Pugsly is just from a breeder that we looked into and the name of the breeder got from a friend of mine who is in a in a club for pug owners in SC.

Family dogs:  Tammy, Tosha, Charlotte, Blondie, Lola,
came from the shelter.  My sister brought Payton home
    from a friend's home.
Personal dogs:  Kayla -Shelter.  Mr. Chow- Shelter to foster home.
I found his sister on Petfinder but I wasn't ready to adopt
yet after Kayla died.  He was still available two months
    later at Petsmart.
I have been looking at shelters to add a second dog.  I think
if you are patient enought you can find any breed you want.

My last dog was a rescue. My current is from a VERY reputable breeder. I researched bloodlines a year and a half before  talking with lynne.  Four months later, Gypsy was mine!
