Sorry I missed this, I am a wreck whenever mine go in. So glad it's over and she will be ok. I know you'll have a rough night but she will be out of it, so keep telling yourself that and, let us know when you get her tomorrow. Try to get some sleep.

O, that would explain it. I was just curious, I figured if Ed was getting Gaia spayed then he doesn't have anything against getting his animals fixed so I was kind of confused as to how she could be pregnate.

    Ed,
JJ and Pru have been worried sick about sweet gaia all day.. (although it didn't stop them from getting a lot of R&R on our mountain RV trip!)

    sending more good vibes!

Ed, I am late getting here but I am glad that Baby Gaia is doing well. I also become bags of nerves when I have to take one of my babies in. Boy, being parents is sometimes so overwhelming[;)].
A candle burns brightly for a speedy recovery for Gaia and settled nerves for you.
    (((hugs)))

Pofi offers gentle kisses to speed Gaia's recovery (hope Xerxes is not the jealous type!)!  Mia also sends best wishes from one redhead girl to another.

Looking forward to hearing she is home and recovering with the three of you and your home is complete again!

I'm glad she made it thru OK and hope she feels better soon.  I'm with you, I think the vet is right having her stay in this case where she's lost more blood than expected.  Willow incision was about four to six inches, maybe you could question why it's so big?  Anyway, they heal fast and the incision on my dog isn't even noticable now and she's not all that furry on that area so I'd see it if it was there.

Hope you get some rest tonight.

No I'm not against getting them spayed/neutered.  Gaia just got over a false pregnancy 8 weeks ago, I was waiting the 2-3 months recommended by my vet before scheduling a spay.  Within that time she went into a heat cycle before I knew what was happening.  After I KNEW she was in heat, I kept the two of them seperated.  Upon further advice we scheduled the spay because it was quite possible that the two of them had enjoyed connubial bliss. [;)]

As I was told was possible, she did have cystic ovaries and a cystic uterus.  Often quick cycles in females, as someone told me, are symptomatic of cysts.

And Xerxes is a conformation dog, but as soon as is viable, he'll be neutered.  I will not contribute to the population woes of the canines, besides who really wants to tolerate more pharaoh hounds?  [:D]

    Yeah it's about that long...but I was expecting something a bit smaller...*shrug*

Xerxes I'm glad those things are OUT of Gaia...they are horrible! My poor Akita friend had a bitch in full blown , blood dripping, dog attracting season for  6 MONTHS STRAIGHT while she and a repro vet tried everything in the book short of breeding her, to take her out. Verdict? Cystic ovaries.

This poor lady wanted to show and breed....but once she heard the same bitch had an aunt that was spayed for the same reason...and another half sister that aborted pups over and over....she realized she just needed to spay. It was so sad...and really, really expensive.

Ed, that makes perfect sense. For some reason I completely missed the fact that you are showing Xerxes in conformation, hmm, I'll blame it on being blonde[:D]. Well, I'm glad Gaia is on the road to recovery,,,hopefully tomorrow she's feeling better and everything goes as planned as she recovers.

I'm late seeing this thread about Gaia's surgery.  I'm glad to hear she's doing well thus far -- it's great you got to see her a bit tonight.  When our dog had his surgery that required an overnight stay, they suggested we NOT visit so as not to upset him.  I think it would've upset me more than him.  I was a wreck until he was home.  Honestly, I have no idea how parents of human children face surgical procedures for their kids, especially when they're too young to talk or explain to them.  It would be agonizing.

Sending healing thoughts across the miles to Gaia -- soon she'll be home under the covers with you again!
