    Gaia is in Surgery

Just wanted to let everyone know that Gaia is in surgery for her spay operation.  I'm a nervous nellie.  This is the first time I've had her at the vet when I can't be there through the whole process.  She's my baby girl and I'm worried, though I probably shouldn't be.

So if you get a chance, send some "Stop being a worried dog-daddy" vibes to Virginia for me.  Thanks.

She's out of surgery.  The vet called and told me that both her ovaries and uterus were cystic, quite badly.  There's also the possibility that she was in the first week of pregnancy.  The surgery itself was about 2 hours due to the massive bleeding because of the swollen parts.  He's recommending an overnight stay, and I actually agree with his decision in this particular instance.

I'm relieved, yet I still want my baby back home.

Wow.  It sounds  like you were lucky that you got her in when you did.  Glad everything went well for her.  Good vibes coming your way for a speedy recovery.

She'll be more inclined to sleep it off there than at home, I'm sure.  But yes, it sounds like you were just in the nick of time and it's a good job done.  good thots & prayers for both of you (and Xerxes) and stay home, stay put and get rested ... by the time she IS home she'll be ready for GOOD stuff!!

I just came back from the vets office.  She's groggy and I laid down with her for a few minutes.  She looks a bit beat up but she was so happy to see me.  Her tail wagged for a good 10 minutes. What a big incision though, I didn't think the incisions were so large...Maybe it's just me though, having never seen the direct "day of" surgery results.  She was also a bit "groany" and talkative.

It's hard not taking her home with me, but I know it's for the best.  Boy she's still strong though, they tried to lead her back into the treatment room and the tech almost got pulled off of her feet.  I gave them my shirt to put over top of her when she goes back to sleep, since she always sleeps under the covers with me.

ETA Thanks for all the wonderful vibes and well wishes.  Gaia, Xerxes, Dodo and I really appreciate all of them.
