Is your dog a "breedist"?

Bugsy loves all dogs but I would imagine that if little dogs keep snapping and growling at him he will eventually not like them.  The only dogs that have bothered him have been small and a few have really gone for him.  he gives me this look like "what in the world is this all about?" with a 'save me' pleading in his eyes [:)]
He has yet to growl and even when these others have snapped at him he doesn't even seem to 'defend' himself which is a slight worry.

His two best friends are goldens but that is not his choosing they are the available buds.  One is a similar aged female (@70lbs) and the other is a 5 yr old male 115lbs.  Bugs has a different play style with each.  he has also been around little pups and was very protective of them.

So when it comes to dogs Bugs is EASY!

I forgot about this one earlier. The lab we used to have was very dog aggressive, except with JRTs. The woman who had her before us had one who she was fine with, and there was one in the neighborhood who she liked. Every other dog she flipped out at. There was one exception other than that for a friend's dog, but we desensitized her to him from the day my friend got him.
Millie doesn't like other dogs at all since we got Max, but she seems most bothered by little yappy dogs. Large dogs don't seem to be as much of an issue.

xena likes playing with any dog thats as hyper as her and just wants to wrestle n wrestle
and if they dont wanna play she will spend the time convincing them to play
so the skys the limit for her
and if it aint a dog, as long as its playable its good

my dog doesn't negatively associate breeds, but he has this need to hump every black dog he comes in contact with, male or female. i think it's because we had a rather large female rottweiler the first year of his life. she was never mean to him, but definitly kept him in check. apparently he liked it.

    No.

Annie (Cavalier) gets very nervous and scared around medium-large dogs that are very exuberant and energetic (labs, boxers, etc). My friend has a border collie mix puppy the same age and Annie gets very overwhelmed around her. If they are larger dogs, but they're calm and allow her to approach on her own terms she's much better.

However, she loves it whenever she's around other Cavaliers. My parents have 2 Cavaliers, and Annie loved them and played with them from the first day she met them. I've never seen her act the way she does with them with any other dog. I took her to a small breed playgroup once, and the trainer there said she sees it with a lot of breeds - that in daycare they tend to gravitate towards dogs of the same breed.

Stella, It's something about the way Boxer's move and their personality - MANY dogs do not like Boxers.  If you watch them play, you can understand why - they bounce and jump and use their arms and "fists" (in boxing fashion).  They behave very differently from other dogs.  I actually feel bad for them.  Slick has a Boxer friend named Jake.  I literally think that Slicky is his only friend.  He spends all his time *trying* to get dogs to play with him and nobody will.

Aww, poor Jake! I'm glad Slick is a big boy and knows it's all good play. Thank you, I knew about Chow/Akita stance thing being a turn-off to dogs, but never Boxers!

Cuma has never liked Boxers either, which is fabulous since they are EVERYWHERE. [:(]   I was very proud of him for ignoring the two at the dog park this past weekend.  If there's one thing he dislikes more than a Boxer its an intact male Boxer.

On the other hand, he absolutely adores all Rottweilers.  He is definitely "breedist".

Gypsy has an extreme disliking for the neighbor's Boxer, but I don't know if it's just this particular one or the breed in general since this is the only one she's ever been around.  I never thought about it having anything to do with the way he carries himself.  Interesting.

Dulce doesn't have a breed that she doesn't LIKE. But, she LOVES Boxers, and small dogs!! Actually, she loves everything! But Boxers are here favorite, and she gets a kick out of small dogs!!

Madi does not like Pit Bulls.  They come around and she will not make eye contact.  She will also purposly go to the other side of the dog park if they come in.  I think it is because most of the pits at the park are puppies and most of the puppies tend to be lickers and wound up,  the two traits that annoy Madi.

My malinois will go after golden retrievers. I don't know what it is but every time she has been around one, fur has flown and she gets snarly. I'm not sure what her deal is...[8|]

Lilly, our mini schnauzer, doesn't really care, although she barks at everything that walks by. [;)]

Riley just wants to kill any larger dog.

Magic is a "dogist" she hates most dogs.
Bobbie seems to like other dogs although I don't allow him to socialize with strange dogs so I don't really know what breeds he likes. Small dogs he thinks is prey.
