Someone tried to steal my dogs!!!

I agree about the camera sign or a sign of some sort. We saw a really funny sign once that said, "I can get to that fence in 3 seconds. Can you?" and it had a picture of a dog running towards a person. It was funny, but at the same time very true in respect to my dog.

I doubt those kids where stealing the dog for ransom.  Around here, near Gary Indiana, kids steal dogs for dog fighting bait.  That's far worse than for ransom.

When I worked at a pet supplies store, this lady came in with a sign of their missing King Charles Spaniel.  A neihbor kid walked into their yard to play with the dog and left the gate open.  The dog ran away.   This woman was in tears.

Kids walk through my yard all the time.  The worse part is, is there is not much you can do about it.  You can put up a fence for them to climb over and break and possibly leave the gate open for your dog to escape.  You can put up a no trespassing sign, only for the child to be hurt on your property, and the parents will say, "my 6 year old doesn't know what 'trespassing"'means."  You can put up an obvious sign, like "Stay out of this yard" only for the kids to think your mean and then TP or vandalize your property or worse yet hurt/steal your dog.  Kids these days are horrors with no control and too many rights.  What happen to the Little House on the Prairie days, when the neihbor would drag the kid home by the ear to the parents to tell them what the kid did.  Not anymore, you drag  a kid by the ear now or even complain to the parents and the parents will undoubtedly blaim it on you.

Last weekend I cought 4 kids, all over the age of 6 playing tag in my front yard around my vehicles.  I have no children for them to play with.  I stood in my front window watching them, hoping they would see me and go away.  They saw  me alright, but didn't go away.  They are over 6 and don't know any better than to stay out of someone elses yard.  Urggg.

I would call the police and write a letter to ever home within the block, subdivision, or surrounding area explaining what happend and asking the parents to talk to their children about not trespassing.  I would also mention that you called the police in the letter.
