Do people think you're wierd just because your dog is your best friend?

IMO people are just fine--as long as they are dog people.

Yeah, people think I'm crazy. But they usually are not dog people. I usually bring him with me, LOL.

I'm really the only "dog person" that I hang out with in real life. I have a friend with a great pyr but he's not a "dog person" he's just a "his dog person". []  So yeah, I think my friends think I'm a little wacky that I'm so into my animals. I'm pretty sure my husband is among them! But, on the other hand, a close friend had a health emergency with her cat over the weekend and I was the first person she called as soon as she realized there was a problem, because she knew that I'd know what to do (I have two cats in addition to my pups). I think my friends appreciate that there's an animal person around should they ever need help. I'm always happy to be of service. []
 
Most of my friends I  made through following the band Phish over hill and dale for a decade, so we're all quite familiar with "ridiculous obsessions". We tend to go pretty easy on one another in that regard, having been accused of the same thing by others for a long time!

Definitely. My friends are usually annoyed when I start talking about my dogs! But, to be honest, I value my dogs opinion more than their most of the time [&:].  None of them are 'dog people'.
My parents think its strange that I would rather hang with my dog than do regular "teenage things" like going to the mall or something. But, really, even when I am at the mall I'm usually looking for something I can treat my boys with when I get back! []

My friends just think I'm insane. 

Its good to be here in the company of others "like-minded".
I learned pretty quickly my friends didn't want to see[] the slide show I made of the Mster on my computer.

Nope.  Most of my friends are crazy dog people like me. [] 

I have two "dog person" friends. I know LOTS of people who have dogs, but most of them are NOT dog people, at least not like I am. I only know one person who will sit with me, for hours, watching the obedience ring, and wondering what these crazy people are feeding their poor dogs[]

I have a little of both.  My family is doggie friendly, a few obsessive like myself, and a few who just "get it".  Some of my friends are dog people, they get to see the slideshows and hear all the stories.  Those that are not dog people respect me enough to respect my adoration for my dog.  

My friends pretty much understand but my parents think I went off the deep end.  My mom really isn't an animal person at all and my dad just thinks dogs should work and not really be a pet. 

They really started rolling their eyes when my brother found a serious girlfriend who has a Scottie.  And, now they live together and my brother loves the dog sooo much.  He carries him in my parents house on holidays like he's a baby.  And, when we talk that's all we talk about. . .in a way I'm so glad my brother is now like me.  The rest of my family are very much into dogs my uncle loves then and my grandparents also do.

Rory has always been MY dog so before my husband and I got married he used to get annoyed if I said something like "oh I gotta get home, Rory has been home for 3 hours alone", it used to drive him nuts. Now that he lives with us, feeds her, walks her, and cuddles with her he is worse then I am, ha ha!
We were having dinner with friends last weekend and after dinner he rushed the check because Rory was home alone, ha ha ha ha! Our friends even wanted us to go downtown and have some drinks but he wanted to go cuddle with Rory! For one small point in time I prayed they would love eachother because truthfully he got jealous some nights. Never did I imagine they would bond so much!

My mom understands, but my friends think I'm crazy. They don't get it at all. They think I'm an extremist. I have one friend who is a dog person and even with her I know she thinks I've gone a little crazy. I don't really care though anymore. They don't have to understand why my dog comes first. They just have to know that she does. []
