What Name Goes with Dakota???

Wow!!!!  See, I knew all of you would come up with some awesome names.  There are so many new names you have suggested that I'm going to have a hard time narrowing them down to one.  Thanks so much!!!!!!  If you think of more, please list them!![:D][:D][:D]

Sonata is a Hyundai, my mom drives one. If you want some Honda names, you've got Civic, CRV, Element, Pilot, Accord, and the new Fit. I think those are terrible for a dog, but you don't have to agree with me.

Yuck!!!!  I have an Accord coupe, and my husband has a CRV.  We love our vehicles, but I have to agree that Honda names are terrible names for dogs.  ("Come, CRV!!!  Good boy!!!"  or "Sit, Ridgeline!!")  Yuck!!

I just thought of another neat name - Alaska!

I'm kind of liking Denali, Denali dog, Denali dog???
    • Gold Top Dog
I know, I like Denali too.  I know Sera said it's a male name, but that won't matter.  After all, it sounds feminine to me.  Dakota and Denali...ohhh, that sounds good!

Jean - you can see Denali? Man, I'm jealous. when I get used to my negative scanner, I'll have to show you some of my pictures from my Denali back country adventure - we had astonishing weather and the mountain was out for 4 of the 5 days we were backpacking.

Well, yes, I can see Denali from up here in Fairbanks. Thing is, every single time I drive down the Parks Highway to see Denali clouds cover the mountain. Not the rest of the mountains, mind you, those will be crystal clear and stunning, meanwhile DENALI is totally shrouded. It really drives me crazy. I've been trying to see that mountain close up for YEARS. [:@]

I like Kenai, too. Matanuska. Maybe too much of a mouthful. Chitna. But Chena is prettier. There's Nenana (a river and glacier). [/font]

Well, I like Chena, Galena and Kenai. Matanuska is nice if you call her Matty for short. Nenana is pronounced Nee NA Nuh, and the NA rhymes with the short a in Sam. Nenana is a cute little town, too.

There's also Kodiak, Katmai, Naknek, and one that sounds like something Tarzan would say: Savoonga! Cheetah, Tantor! Savoonga! Umgawa!

    I like :
    Teton (western Lakota)
    Santee (east Dakota)

The boys suggested Hotah. They tell me it means white.

DH suggested Kiowa. (Grandma was Kiowa. The Kiowa were pushed out of the Black Hills.)

Looking at your Eskie, it reminded me of the Legend of White Buffalo Calf Woman. Here is a link to the legend

Wow!!!  Cool websites.  One of the stories on the second website reminded me of the movie Last of the Dogmen.  If you've never seen it, then you're missing a treat.  We have it and have watched it dozens of times.

Thanks! Many of the kids I work with speak Lakota. If you want something translated, I can ask them for you!

Thanks, Karin.  I may take you up on that!!  Then again, there are already so many great suggestions that I'm already having a hard time narrowing down all the names to just one.  Durn, I may have to get a few extra Eskies!!![:D]
