Doberman Pinscher 2 ½ yrs
Mixed Breed 2 yrs.
Dachshund 6 months
Dachshund 4 months
Number of times a day: At least two, with shorter potty breaks throughout the day.
Distance/Day: Before a leg injury (We only had 3 big dogs then, before the younger dobies were added) I alternated who ran with me and who biked with me. One day I biked a longer distance (10-12 miles) then later that evening ran a shorter distance (3-4 miles). Then the next day I would switch to a longer run/shorter bike. My BF would take the dog left behind on a walk of about 2-3 miles.
Currently, I can#%92t walk, run, or bike, as I am currently in a wheelchair following knee surgery. So BF walks everyone 2-3 miles daily (the dachshunds do not go this far). We have a 5 acre yard for all of the dogs to run & play in, along with following me as I drive the golf cart around the pasture (another 145 acres). They also play ball & Frisbee (choice of each dog) for about 30 minutes a day. Every morning the 3 dobies & the mutt go for a run on treadmills (usually about 4-5 miles) and the boxer and dachshunds go for a swim (endless pool, about a mile).
It seems like a really busy schedule, but once you get accustomed to it, it is second nature.
