On his nametag..?

    On his nametag..?

We got Buck's lisence today, and he now has his lisence tag, and a tag with his ID chip number on his collar. We'll be going down to the petstore to get him a name tag tomorrow. Obviously we'll be putting his name on this last tag. My question is, what else should go on this name tag? Phone, address..? Something else?

Sorry if this is sort of a 'duh' question. My last dogs never had acutual name tags, just lisence tags. [8|]

I put his name, my phone number, city and zip code on the front, and "microchipped" on the back.  Along with his license tag, rabies tag, and Home Again ID tag, he has a pretty jingly collar [:)]

I put my cell phone and my street address (no zip code or anything). My thinking is that even if we have the dog off on vacation with us somewhere, we'll still be reachable by cell, and if one of the dogs heaven forfend escapes in our immediate neighborhood, they'll be able to be returned to our house without having animal control and the shelter get involved. I recently found a dog in our neighborhood wandering around and he had his address on his tag. So, I took him back to his house a few blocks away, and no one was home, so I left him in their yard and left a message on their machine.

Max has his name, my name, phone # & address on one tag, his Home Again microchip tag, rabies tag, county license and a neat ID tag I got from the SPCA.  He actually has more ID than I do.  I'm thinking maybe he should have a credit card and a drivers license.

I just have Gizmo's name and my cell # on her tag.  I think the best way to find me is call me.

She wears 3 tags so if they need an address they can contact one of the places those tags are from.  One is a city tag in the shape of a pig, no idea why a pig but it's the same for every animal who got theirs that year; it has her city license #.  The other tag I have is a rabies vaccine tag that says she got the 3 yr in 06 to show she is up to date on her vaccines it also has a number and my vets address so they can look her up.  The third tag is just her name just incase she gets lost.  I haven't put her microchip # tag on her because if anyone got that # then I worry it could be possible to have her changed over to them.

Half of mine didn't get actual TAGS for the rabies.....just the certificate.  Cheap vet I guess.  So half have the county license and rabies in addition to the name tag which has JUST the name and my phone number and the cell phone number and the other half have the same minus the rabies tag......their name and a couple ways to reach me are really all they need.

I only have their names and my cell phone number on their tags, I wanted less so the toe would be bigger.  I have them that way because we take them with us when we go out of town so the tags work well if they get lost miles from home, I alsways have my cell with me as well.

My dogs don't have tags but they have a riveted nameplate on their collars which says: Reward - Call Collect, and lists my home and cell#'s.

My dogs have several tags. License, rabies, personal ID which has their Name, address and phone number, and the microchip tag. They have two of the personal id tags, one hangs on the outside and is the only tag visible..the rest are secured inside a Tag Pocket thats on their collar. Keeps them quiet and less likely to fall off. The extra personal tag on the inside is incase the one on the outside falls off..which has happened. I also had a tag made for each of them with their microchip number on it and the 1-800 number to call. The plastic tags Avid gives out break easily and the number wears off so I had brass ones engraved and they are kept in the Tag pocket.
Just the other day Witt's d ring on his collar snapped while he was playing on a cable in the backyard (we are putting a new fence in) and the tag hanging on the outside was lost in the grass..but his tag pocket was still there. Of course I was standing right there..so he didn't go anywhere..but it reminded me that I'm glad to have the tag pockets.

First name and last, town and state and phone number.  He has his liscense and rabies tags too.  In the spring I will be getting the bill for his liscense.  His rabies is good for 3 years!

Dog's names, street address, city/zip code, home phone number. They also have their rabies tags and city license tags on their collars.

I'm going to get them new tags, though, that have their microchip number engraved on it (thanks for the suggestion DeAnna!). Does anyone have a suggestion on where to get new tags? I've always gotten them engraved at Petsmart, but you can't engrave the back.

    I like their lifetime guarantee.
I get the plastic ones because her 2" collar is too think for the ones that you can put on the collars.

Just my street address and cell number.  I don't put their names on the tags because I read somewhere that if your dog was ever stolen, having the name would give the person more control.  They could more easily claim it is their dog if they know the name it responds to.  I am going to get another tag with Rose's microchip number engraved.  Colton doesn't have his microchip yet as I keep forgetting to put it in.  My mentor has all of his dogs microchipped and does it himself so we have the stuff to do it, I just keep forgetting!
