How many dogs on the couch?

The last set of greyhounds we owned had the couch or bed whenever they wanted…but I since have changed my view on this.  I truly believe that my last alpha female was sending “signals” to the other dogs and cats that it was HER territory.  I don#%92t want that to happen again so ONLY the cats get the couch and the bed.  I figure the dogs get walks, treats and all kinds of special attention, so it is a good way to spoil the cats a little.

Honestly, the dogs don#%92t care…they have the worlds BEST dog beds and we often sit on eth floor and give them love.  The only couch they are allowed on is in the RV because of space issues…and they really seem to know the difference.

    Oh, these are my couches?

We let the dogs on the couches and chairs.  During our first meeting with Kiya she hopped right up on the couch and curled up, we never even had a chance!  We did make sure that the pups know they have to move if a human wants the spot though.  They are very good about it too, when one of us heads toward whereever they are sitting they get up without us having to tell them (unless they are sleeping or pretending to sleep).

Ours generally aren't allowed on the furniture, but Penny has always been allowed if she's invited. She's pretty good and basically doesn't go on the furniture unless I'm sitting on a bed or lounge and call her up. Then she gets a cuddle and I send her off again.

All three are allowed on the furniture.  Usually Max only wants up when no one else is there and Lady will lay on the recliner chair.  But their are some occasions when SO and I are watching TV and they all decide that they want or need to be with us, then it gets pretty crammed and then they'll even lie on top of one another.  [:D]  It is a sigt to see.[;)]

We don't allow dogs on our furniture either but a couple times a yr we'll find them on the sofa.

Max loves the big soft, squishy sofa in one room and the loveseat sofa in the other room.  He also dearly loves our bed. He's allowed on all of them.

Maggie is technically only allowed on the futon when invited, but I know she sneaks up there when I'm not home, so there is a sheet ofver the cover. She isn't allowed on furniture at my parents' and never has tried. There are dog beds all over both houses.

She will get on the bed if asked, but generally only stays a few mins before getting off and going into her crate to sleep.

Well, I only have two chairs in my living room right now becuase I haven't found a couch to buy yet,,,so the dogs aren't allowed on them because then I have no where to sit and I would be constantly telling them to move. Once I get a couch, I'm sure they'll jump up there with me and then the one crappy chair I have will become strictly a dog chair. My dogs are allowed on the bed as long as I have a sheet covering my comforter,,both my dogs shed a LOT and I found that was the easiest way to enjoy sleeping with them and also keeping my bedding clean. I personally love it when my dogs want to snuggle with me, so as long as I'm not having to fight for space on my furniture they're allowed on it.

How many dogs on the couch?

    All of them.

The basenjis really like the back of the sofa (that's where the sunspot is).  The malinois has a certain spot on the sofa that is covered with a dogpad.  (She sheds.)

As long as my dogs have already learned sit, lie down, off, come, leave it, and wait, they can be wherever they want - couches, beds, chairs, etc.  They must "excuse me" when asked.  But, I love watching TV at night with Sioux on one side, Maska on the other, and Sequoyah at my feet.  Fergie prefers her closet, but she's welcome, too, and does grab a chair occasionally...

We let our dogs on the basement couch only (the basement is our family room). They abide by this rule. We put blankets down, and they try to stay on the blankets. Belle sleeps on the couch all day while we are at work. Maxine likes to sit between us when we watch TV.

My dogs are taught the furniture is a PRIVLIDGE not a right. They ask (except when we are gone), that way if we have company over, they don't necessarily get a dog in their lap. Of course we have a very big couch to accomodate us all.

Critters on the couch at our place.  Actually keep the cushions up during the day and while we sleep because cats have marked furniture in the past (couch is under the window and we have some roaming cats outside setting off the security lights and causing stress.

But when we are home the cushions are down and anyone is allowed.

All our dogs are allowed on the furniture, and Taco sleeps in bed with us at night.  Tinker will probably end up there too before it's over with.  Taco gets on the furniture when we help him up, but only because he can't (or at least thinks he can't) jump up.  Bella doesn't really like being inside and spends most of her time out in the yard, and hides under the coffee table when she's inside, so she's not much of a couch potato at all.  Pepper and Tinker though are never happier than when they're curled up beside me on the couch.  Tinker is only 7 weeks old and can already climb up on her own! LOL

Only when invited.  This is because before that, they were allowed everywhere and Kota spilled my sister's hot coffee on her.  So the invited only rule came up.  I have tried to get all 4 up, but the recliner portion just isn't big enough....

But snoozin' with doggies around ya is priceless and I wouldn't trade it for the world.  :D
