How many dogs on the couch?

Gypsy's not allowed in the couch, but she occasionally sits in my lap.  Boy, a lap dog this size makes one's legs go numb in a hurry!

Ours are allowed on the couch whenever they want, unless they're chewing a bone...I don't want that yucky bone residue on my furniture. They are also allowed on the bed, but only when invited (if we're watching a movie in the bedroo, or just snuggling)...otherwise they take over while we're trying to sleep! Two 50+ pounders and two adults in a queen size bed is not the most comfortable of sleeping arrangements. But they have super-plush dog beds next to our bed when it is time for bed.

Our dogs are never allowed on the furniture.

Nah, in all seriousness, the dogs are allowed on the furniture. They are not, however, allowed on the bed at night (but that's because then there wouldn't be any room for humans). The one big rule is that he/she who refuses to move when told to do so loses furniture privileges.

Ash is allowed on all of the furniture. She loves the couch. She has her own spot.
Angel, who lives with my mom, is allowed on the furniture too, but it seems to be a battle between my mom and my step-dad. He doesn't like her on the furniture and my mom doesn't mind. Angel used to be an outside dog and now that she's 9 years old, she's inside and spoiled. She won't even go to sleep or lay down unless she's on the couch.

Both the dogs are allowed on the furniture. Max sleeps in my bed at night too. Millie used to not be allowed on the bed because she took up too much room and kicked too much, but now my dad just leaves and goes to sleep somewhere else.

i don't think there is a single space in my house that is off-limits to the dog, other than maybe the baby crib, but i can't see him trying to jump up in there anyway. i can't imagine him not being on the furniture, he always sits by me. i do know alot of people who don't allow their animals on their furniture though.

when i first got together with my husband his rottweiller had her own couch, it was a loveseat in pretty rough shape, she even had her own blankie, i use the word blankie loosely as it was a queen sized comforter. she had to have her own couch, try sitting next to a goliath rotty, not gonna happen. i was the only one that ever sat on her couch with her, she was like a dog blanket, would climb right up on ya [:)]

My dogs and cats are allowed on all the furniture.  Everyone loves the lazyboy recliner:  One dog curls up in the seat and the cat nestles in on top of the back.  The dogs not only sleep on the bed with me, but they're under the covers.  If I'm on the couch I'm surrounded because everyone wants to be with me.  We don't spend too much time inside though, when I'm home we're going out on walks or to the park.

The only reason that this is possible is that my furkids have learned to share, and they are not possessive-beyond playful possessiveness.  The second they refused to move, or became "growly" with me, would be the beginning of the "off" the furniture period.  They know that I'm not going to take anything away from them unjustly, and I have a trust in them-just as they have a trust in me.  The one I worry about the most though, is the cat-she just hasn't figured out that the dogs food isn't her food.

Ace is allowed on the couch by invitation only.  He understands and follows the rule.  Sometimes I invite him up for cuddles when I watch TV, but most of the time I don't.  He is not allowed on my bed, and it's too high for him to jump up there anyway; I've never even seen him try.  There is a futon in the guest room that he is allowed on -- if the door to the room is open I put down a blanket on the bed for him.  He likes to nap there, and he has a view of the street so he can keep an eye on things.

Giz is allowed on the fruniture in my house but when I stay with my parents it's a big "no no" for her to be on anything other than the floor and the bed I sleep in.  She even know what is off limits at my parents home and does a good job of respecting my parents request.  However she does get jelous of the cat who is allowed anywere and on anything in my parents home, I even argue with my parents about it "but the cat can be there..."  I have a dog bed for her in my parents living room so she can at least feel confortable.

Mine are allowed on the couch and sleep in bed with me too. They are small and hardly shed at all, so I dont mind at all.

Kaiser used to have his very own couch in my living room, but there's no room for it now. I have leather furniture, so neither of the dogs are allowed on it. They are, however, allowed on the bed. When i'm not home, kaiser spends the whole time on the bed :)

My baby girl (9 yrs old actually) weighs 15 pounds and never gave staying off the couch one thought.  When I went to get her (12 wks old) and sat down on the couch, she immediately jumped up to get in my lap and stayed there the whole time growling and snapping at the other dogs (her own family of dogs I might add) until it was time for me to pick her up and take her home.  She jumps up on the seat part but then crawls up to the very top and lays there.  That is her favorite spot.  She can see out the windows from there and since she is "the queen" of the household she can supervise all the other creatures that live in my home, including me!!

angelabarry....your dogs are gorgeous!  The 2 in the middle of the sofa look like twins. The guy on the floor is simply beautiful.

I am in the minority and never let Kato on any furniture.  I know it's a personal thing, but I just don't like the thought of doghair in my bed or furniture.  He sheds sooooo much and not to mention his size.  His bed is my old twin mattress and he seems quite comfy with that.  I am also married to someone who doesn't believe in letting animals on furniture either. So, it works out great!

I don't think I would let a mastiff on furniture either.

In my house, everyone is allowed on everything.
