How many dogs on the couch?

    • Gold Top Dog
Well... If we want to sit or lay on the couch, we have to say "down" first because the girls hog the couch [:)].  We both love it when they cuddle with us... so they're always welcome anywhere we are (unless of course, someone rolled in poo... then it's bath first, couch later!)

Here are the girls... Trixie laying in her usual spot (Gracie likes this spot too) on the back of the couch looking out the window.  Then Gracie and FeFe (not long after we found out she was sick) they often snoozed together on the same pillow.  The other is Trixie, gathering toys around her and napping on them  [:)]

When I was filling out the adoption papers for Max at the shelter, two of the questions they asked was whether or not there would be some rooms in the house that would be off limits and whether or not he would be allowed on the furniture. I don't know why they would want to know that, but I told them that if someone didn't want a dog in his/her room, they could be responsible for keeping the door shut and as for furniture, if he could get on it he could sit on it.

We initially did not allow dogs on our furniture at all. We would let Sasha our GSD ocassionally on the bed to visit but she honestly never wanted to stay uop their long. She had an still prefers to sleep under the bed....Now than our sweet boy Jake came along who was so scraed of us when he came that when he showed he actually wanted to be near us on he couch chair bed or whereever we allowed it. Than came along the various puppies and dogs that we have fostered.......who ofcourse need to be cuddled and loved more seeing they  were just saved from death at a old animal shelter. Ofcourse we can not forget our newest addition Sammy(Chi) he even has a little dog bed up on the computer desk next to me where he sleeps if I am on the computer...lol......So I guees to answer the question Yes we allow them on the furniture and as many as want to be there when they want to be there. They are our babies and we love them and we are okay with it this way. They do know to stay down if people come to visit that may not want a dog in there lap but as for the hair........Sorry bring a lint brush with ya if it bothers ya or stand up:)

We dont let kian, it's unhygenic, for one, & he is a long haired dog, thats smells even when bathed, but he has his blanket & pillow, on the floor.

not allowed on furniture or beds - and he is OK with that.  We have a porch swing that he is allowed on but he will only go on it when one of us is on it

Jake is not allowed on the couches or our bed.  The kids let him on their beds, but even then half the time he wont hop up unless I am there to tell him its ok  [:D]

I dont know if it will always be this way.  I decided to start out conservative rather than let him everywhere and have to later teach him to stay off.  When the weather turned cold I will admit the thought of a toasty warm dog asleep on my feet sounded soooo good.

There are some pretty good fotos on this thread.

It must just be my house cause there's dog hair everywhere already. With  Laddie I had to vaccum every couple days or else my carpet would be black and the kitchen would have dust puppies the size of bunnies.

The couch and bed are by invitation only, but in all reality I'm fairly leient
    ...just don't tell Tonka.

All our dogs are allowed on the furniture. I keep a big blanket on the couch and a sheep skin on the recliner, every Friday they get thrown in the wash. I allso spray them with dog  cologne in between baths. My furniture never smells like dog.One word(Fabric refresher) i spray it every Friday on the furniture.

Little Miss Politeness is allowed everywhere. She has taken to napping in MY bed, even when I'm not there. She is so very good at 'down' (get off the furniture) that it isn't really a problem at all.

Hair? How can I CARE about hair with a dog like Sofia? Hair is just a fact of life.

In my studio at work the vaccuum cleaner was broken for several months. I thought spontaneous generation was going to occur and I'd come in one day and find brand new puppies generated from the fur on the carpet. [&:]

Romeo is allowed in every piece of furniture I own.  His shedding is under control, by giving him fish oil, and daily brushings.  Although he has his own couch in the living room (grandpa had it custom made for him) he preferes my couch though.  He jumps up, curls up in a tight little ball and looks up at you with the most adorable brown eyes, that how can you say anything? when he sees me coming, he rolls over for a belly rub, I lay down next to him and we spoon to our favorite tv show: "grey's anatomy."

He's allowed anywhere. Well, not on countertops or anything, but he's a good boy, hypoallergenic(Shih Tzu) and doesn't shed much, so couch, chairs, beds are fine.

    P.S.- The pics are beautiful!!!

I don't think my dog would be allowed on the couch, but it doesn't matter because she doesn't even try to go on it; she prefers sleeping on the floor (when it's a hot day) or on her blanket (when it's cold).
