We still have a lot of progress to make, the biggest issue being the screaming and fighting whenever he doesn't like something. Something to work on.... I'm all ears if anyone has advice for that!

My guess is that he probably has learned that screaming and fighting makes whomever is doing something he doesn't like *stop* doing whatever it is. What things make him scream??

I would just be matter of fact about things, and ignore the screaming *shrugs*. Yeah, its annoying and ear piercing, but I think when he realizes (and it may take a little time) that it doesn't get him anything, he will probably stop.

Tamara I am so proud of you!  Its really hard at first to not interfere with the 2 dogs... I still interfere sometimes and DH has to remind me that they will be fine.  I am just always so worried that one of them is bothering the other.   Your description of them playing sounds exactly like Duke and Daisy.  Duke would always jump up onto the couch or chair where Daisy couldn't reach.  But now, Daisy can get up on the couch... its just crazy!  Each day it will get a little bit easier.  I am so excited for you!
 
As for the screaming, I have NO advice.  Daisy screams too... and I haven't been able to stop it.  She screams whenever I leave the room.  I have tried ignoring her... sometimes ignoring for half an hour... but nothing works.  I just hope that eventually she gets it.
 
Anyways, continue giving us the updates!

[] That's great news!! I know exactly how you feel...Macy is always always ALWAYS pestering Prince to play with her and he gets a little upset sometimes. But this past week HE has been initiating the playtime! He's starting to act a little more puppy-like which is absolutely adorable (well as adorable as an 85lb dog can be...LOL)
 
It feels good when you see the dogs becomming friends, doesn't it?

The WORST is being in the car with him. My husband and I have to wear ear plugs and it's still enough to make you want to pull your hair out.

Get him a vari kennel type crate, and put him in that in the back seat in the car, the seat belt will go around he's just scared.

Get the book scaredy dog I think that would help with this little boy. And expose him to a lot of stuff a little at a time, stay cool, and keep Gingerbread close to him, he will take his lead.

I've tried both the vari kennel and doggie seat belt that connects to the harness. I honestly don't think he's scared. He's one of the most confident puppies I've met.

I think you might have some luck with the screaming thing with a little more time and by continuing to ignore it.  We have had Prudence about 3 weeks now and I noticed within the first day or two that I couldn't touch her feet, examine her body, look at her teeth or put eye drops in that the vet prescribed without her absolutely screaming at me. Her responce was so over the top! It drove me nuts! [:@]
 
I continued to ignore it and just went ahead with what I am needing to do with her and it took her about 5 days (especially with the eye drops) but now she doesn't make the sound at all. She is starting to trust that I have no intention of hurting her  and knows that I am not going to let her get away with it so she gave it up. I don't have to strattle her anymore and have 2 people just to give her the eye drops and when she starts to do the pre-scream "whine" I say "oh knock it off!" and she shuts up right away.
 
Hopefully it will be the same with cinnabun!  I think she has a lot of potential!

Colton was a car screamer too.  Ear peircing screams.  I kept him in crate, and covered it with a towel to help.  The biggest thing is not to give him what he wants in situations like this.  Eventually, Colton stopped his car and bath screaming.
