    Rehoming....

I would discuss with the vet first what he thinks an appropriate home would be. If he's already prone to snappish behavior and is going to require a behaviorist, homing into a family with children may not be the best idea, ethically or legally.

Is there anything in your contract with the breeder about what you're to do if it didn't work out? (ie return it to her, rehome it yourself, etc)

    That's too bad...bummer.

    Where are you located?

How long have you had Cinnabun? I would urge you to give him more time, it seems like you were talking about getting him last week.

ALL dogs take work. I have the most stubborn, headstrong dog you have ever met but I would never rehome him. A dog to me is a committment for life. Please seek out a trainer in your area before decided to rehome him.

I am sure you could ask for advice on here too but the best advice would be just take him for one private lesson at your local dog training club before deciding to give him up.

Again, ALL dogs take work. If you are looking for a perfectly behaved puppy, you are out of luck, it's not going to happen. I am not a trainer at all and dont know what causes these fits you talk about him having, but with a little work he could make the perfect dog.

All puppies have problems. There is no perfect dog especially puppy!

Oh, he isn't snappish at all. He's very VOCAL about things he doesn't like. He loves kids and kids love him...

Trust me, I am FULLY aware that all puppies take work and that they aren't perfect. I dealt with PLENTY of issues with my current Shih Tzu when he was a puppy, including destructive chewing, separation anxiety and normal puppy mouthing and housebreaking issues.

However, all dogs also have distinct personalities, and are compatible with different people and lifestyles. I see having dogs as a relationship, and if you aren't compatible, then there's no sense fitting a round peg into a square hole when everyone will be happier otherwise.

LuvnTzus:   Have you discussed any of this with the breeder?  You especially need to discuss the re-homing.  All of the breeders I know personally want to know everything about their puppies including behavioral problems, medical issues, temperment issues and of course where the puppies are living.

The breeder may even take this pup back.  But I also urge you to give the pup at the very least 2 weeks to settle in to the current living situation.  There is always an adjustment period, especially when the pup was flown in to you.  That's a scary experience.

Can I ask why you decided to rehome the puppy instead of returning him to the breeder? I thought you said they loved him. I'm just curious, not trying to be difficult. [:)]

I'm really sorry that Cinnabun isn't not working out. I know you were really excited to bring him home. I hope either he calms down and you can keep him or that you find a good home for him and find the right puppy for your family!

Why would you have to get another puppy? If she won't do a refund, I would just take the loss as a learning lesson that you should not buy a puppy sight unseen. Also, have you discussed your plan with th breeder? What if she wants the puppy back?

Oh gosh, I don't think I said I loved him! He's grown on me somewhat, but I do know this isn't what I want long term and rather than dragging things out, I'd rather re-home him now.

If I send him back to the breeder then I'll just have to get another puppy from her sight unseen...

Oh no, not that you loved him--I thought you said the breeder's family really loved him. I'm sure he will grow on you, even if he is not the right fit. I wasn't trying to make you feel bad. I just thought that if he was a good fit for the breeder's family, he might be happier there.

What do you care how much money the breeder makes on this pup? Didn't you say that she wanted to keep this puppy anyway? Also, didn't you say that all the pups from this litter are already sold? Does that mean that you would have to wait for the next litter?

Please at least talk to the breeder. From your post about his homecoming  on the 26Th, it was very clear that he was very loved by them. If you tell them  your concerns  they may refund your money. It worth a try  just because you will know he is loved by someone who already knows his faults
I don't really understand  giving up on a 10 week old puppy in just a few days and frankly I would be shocked if they would trust you to send another even if you was willing.
