    ~treats~

I was just wondering what kind of treats your dogs like! Mine always likes those little puperoni and bil jac liver treats. what do you treat your dog with?

p.s.: i think bil jac is not a good brand but it's just treats, it's not like a few every once in a while will hurt them!

Mine get homemade liver treats or occassionally Innova Health Bars.  I would think that the puperoni is even worse than BilJac and I just don't like giving mine junk type treats even if it only is once in awhile.

I like the Solid Gold jerky, and biscuit wise will use the Canidae snap biscuits. I also like freeze-dried liver.

I'm with her.  Can you give us one of those recipes?  I'd love to give my puppers something other than carrots!

While us people might desire variety, our dogs really don't.

    Liver treats.....

l lb liver (I use chicken), 1-2 garlic cloves...put in the food processor and liquify, then pour into 2 cups whole wheat flour.  Mix well, glop onto a foil lined baking sheet and spread to an even consistency.  Bake at 325 for 15-20 minutes, cut with a pizza wheel when totally cooled and return to the baking sheet to freeze, then bag them up.  Cut as tiny or as large as you like and I make MEGA batches at once.

THANK YOU!  I'm making these little gems for my guys tonight!  Cool!

You're welcome... I think that's 20-25 minutes....lopped 5 minutes off it!  But, the lower time makes for chewier treats, longer, crunchier.

For treat-treats I only use dehydrated chicken bits. But at times I will use little bits of "people food," usually cheese or his rather inexplicable favorite - sugar snap peas. [:)]

I recently used cocktail weiners from a can.  He likes them, but then again I don't think he'd turn down much.

We give our Shadow a Jumbone most of the time.  But recently, he's into ice cubes.

I use a recipe that's almost identical to Glenda's, and they absolutely love it.  And I can make a pound of treats for about $1.25, which means I love it too.
