What does your dog when they know its walking time?

Boomer is at a point now when he sees us do certain stuff he anticipates we're taking him for a walk.  Like grabbing some doggy bags, or putting our socks on.  When I tell him "Boomer you wanna go for a walk?"  he'll go to the front door and sit on top of the shoe mat.  And it doesn't matter if there's 10 pairs of shoes on the mat he'll just sit on top of them.  It's pretty funny as usually he'll have both paws in the actual shoes. A few times while he's waiting for us he'll lay on the shoes as well.

I wish my scene were more orderly like yours. All I can say is if my dogs get wind that something fun is about to happen (and they're pretty darned perceptive)... utter pandemonium. Imagine four dogs hopping around, rooing, panting, wagging, yarking, and wiggling all at once. Then they have to sit for their collars to be put on. Followed by more pandemonium. Life at my house is always entertaining.

Daisy finds one of us and does "figure 8" circles around our feet and does her "woo-woo-wooh" howl and when she gets our attention, she goes and stares at her leash hanging in the closet!

When Duke & Daisy hear the word 'Walk' they go crazy!  Then we go downstairs, sit for the leash, and we all run out the door!  I love seeing how excited they get!

When we ask Shadow, "Do you want to go for a walk?"  He will run to the door with the biggest smile and this tail goes in circles like a propeller.  He'll then sit and put his snout right at the crack of the door while we try to clip his leash on.

If we ask him, "Do you want to go for a car ride?" He will do the same but  with a little more energy and he will run (dragging us along) to the car.

He is also a creature of routine.  At exactly 10:00 PM he will pace around the door or back and forth from us to the door letting us know it's time for his last evening walk.  He'll even huff and puff when we're not ready (or not aware it's 10 already) [:D]

The scene here is alot like you described, dogslyfe, except x6!
They know where their leashes are, and all we have to do it open that door, and insanity ensues!

My 2 run for their leashes that are hung by the door. After I snap them on, if I don't go right away, one of them grabs the other ones leash and walks her around the house.

When Loki hears "walk" he'll run from anywhere he is to the front door and sit down. He also knows that it's time if I start putting on my shoes. Unfortunately Odin will run upstairs and hide in his crate when he hears "walk" or sees my shoes. I think he really likes walks, but he hates putting on his head harness, so he runs away. I follow him upstairs and put on the harness and then he'll calmly walk downstairs with me.

I feel so bad, because I'd like him to get excited about it. He's just a completely different dog with the head halter on, and I don't think I could walk him without it. I've tried and he turns into a little pulling monster who barks at everything. But with the halter on, he trots along nicely right by my side.

I don't like to get Bailey excited before we go out, so in a calm way I just get the leash, and when he hears that he'll walk over and sit down next to me, & I'll clip the leash to his collar. Usualy I take my bike, because he loves to run and it helps get more of his energy out, so I'll go outside, he follows me dragging the leash, I get my bike and he waits next to the truck, then we go and he runs next to me. On the back roads I will sometimes let him off leash as long as there isn't a lot of traffic and he can run behind me, it's easier for him & I don't have to worry about if he gets tripped by the leash.

Kota spins in circles and Tasha then tries to bite his tail.  So the two of them run around the house with Tasha attached to Kota's tail...  [8|]

when it is walking time, i think my dog has mental issues, she'll sprint back and forth, wag her tail so much that she gets ticked off and chases it... she will lay by the door, and act uninterested, then sprints back and forth some more.... she's crazy... she trys to avoid her sporn halter, then she acts sad when i put it on her, but is fine once i open the door...

Her "go crazy" word is OUT... even if i accidentally say it in a sentance, she goes buck wild....

Rory paces or does circles around me which can hinder me from getting ready, ha ha! She has knocked me over unintentionally jst walking circles around me in anticpation. Once I say "wanna go for a walk" she knows she better sit quietly! She knows to sit like a good girl for me to put her collar on so I giver her leeway when it comes to the pre-leashing zoomies, haha!

I usually keep walking tools (leash, poop bags, flashlight, walking stick, mosquito repellent) outside.  I go first, spray on the repellent, and then I say in Spanish: Romeo vamonos.. which means Romeo lets go... he could be anywhere and he will come not running, but tail wagging and smile on his face.  I use one of those all in one leashes, so I hold it open for him, he goes in and off we go.

However, on Saturdays is a different story.  We go for our morning walk come back eat, rest for a little and then is off to Doggy Daycare, all he needs to hear is my keys and he comes running, twisting his body in every other direction, he happily trots to the car and seats by the passenger door.

If Dasher anticipates going out in the car for a trip he starts doing laps around the house.  He runs to the door where his leash is kept and keeps doing circles. Inevitably while doing his laps, a cat will be in the way and will be used as an agility obstacle and jumped over!![:D]

All I have to say is "Do you wanna?" and my dogs go wild. It's always the beginning of a good thing. "Do you wanna go beach?", "Go walkie", "Go work", "Go eat"???

They do happy dog dances all over the house, then race over and sit to be harnessed up.
