Wow!  I wouldn't even think of turning that down, either.  Maybe your destiny is to ultimately help them to produce better dog food.  After all, they must think your opinions are important.   CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congrats on being hunted down for a job!  I do have to err on the side of caution with Billy on this one.  What exactly would you be doing for them, that at an entry level they would pay that kind of money?

FINALLY, a voice of reason.  Something is VERY fishy about this story.

Think about it.  Not only is the offer MANY times the market for what I recall to be her degree credentials and experience, but someone, in essence, sticks their head in the door and says, "Hey, how about you come to work for us for a quarter of a million dollars a year."  Come on.  That ain't the way high level jobs are offered.

IMO, somebody is pulling somebody's leg on this one.  Who is the puller and who is the pullee, I will leave to your judgement.

probe---I don't know what your deal is, but I saw it in writing in the contract and read the small print like I was going blind tommorow.....I'm sorry your internet sources have no case here....

And btw, I have a friend who has been working there for 3 years and makes $375K a year

I forgot to mention that the position would be the head of the department for research analysis and market comparison of their competitors.  She said they need someone who knows about what the market for dog food is these days, and what the company would need to be competitive with the growing market.  They need someone to dictate where their research money goes and to create new lab testing to come out w/ new products, etc.

Congratulations! You've worked very hard and I know you deserve it! [:D]

Actually, I attended a business college when I went back to earn my degree and I was being recruited hot and heavy by some of the major business's in the state and across the border.  And I was ONLY working on an associates degree in accounting.  I had a 4.0 in my degree courses and a 3.85 GPA overall.  So, I'm not gonna dismiss this as the rantings of someones pipe dreams.  I think it's unfair of any of us to dismiss what papillon has said, or worse, all but call her a liar.....

I think my last post made it quite clear what my "deal" is.  [:)]  If not though, let me know and I will try to be less obtuse.

And I assume he/she has the experience and degree credentials to justify that kind of salary.  My question is, what is it about YOUR degree credentials and experience that would justify anything even remotely approaching that kind of salary?

    Wow. that's quite an offer!

Here's my 2 cents. Eukanuba is a good food. Better than many. My co-breeders (bichons, lowchen, fox terriers) who have shown in conformation for more than 30 years have fed Eukanuba for as long as it has been out.  Their dogs live very long and are very healthy.  Currently he has 2 'old lady' bichons who are over 17!

They grow great coats, plenty of energy, nice fat puppies, show nice, etc.
    FWIW it works just fine.

I'd have to suck it up myself and take the job.

Glenda, I certainly don't mean to give the impression that I am calling her a liar.  That would be a violation of the rules.

Well, I don't have any obligation to spill out my resume to you just so you will respect that my hard work and research has indeed caught they eyes of a notable company.  My friend's credentials are the same as mine---we have both done research in the field of brand comparisons which is a "hot thing" among companies as competition is at a peak among dog food brands these days.  They look for people like us who are willing enough and knowledgable enough regarding the billions of dog food companies out there, along with having the scientific/research background to conduct valid experiments to help the company come out w/ new products, etc.  They have a copy of my dissertation which was sent to them by Dr.  Moore, the head professor of animal nutrition at NCSU, because she thought they would be interested in me after they asked her if she had any students in mind for the position they were looking for.

Anyways, for those who care,  I am speaking with the woman tommorow (the one that came to me the other day) and am going to ask her about specifics, location, benefits, etc.  I originally wanted to go out on my own or work as a zoo-nutritionist for the Asheboro, NC zoo, or possibly apply for the research coordinator position for Natural Balance's zoological department (since I have been working as a consultant for the Carnivore Preservation Trust in Pittsboro, NC, zoo nutrition has been my latest interest).  Although the NB thing would require me to move to California, which I don't know if that's what I want, etc etc.  We'll see what happens!

entry level they would pay that kind of money?

I don't think that is entry level. She is earning post-grad creds so this is more like a position in charge of nutrition and formulas, not just a lab tech.
