Proctor and Gamble being veeery tempting! lol

So....today an employee from Proctor and Gamble (Iams, eukanuba in case you don't know) came by the labs today asking for me....she said she wanted to see if I was interested in working for P&G when I graduate, etc I asked how she got my name and apparently they send our research/lab work to these companies, and if they are satisfied they come "hunt us down." (In case you missed it, I was doing the testing on a few major dog foods, etc).  I pretty much didn't show any interest until she said the starting salary was....are you ready? $250,000/year.....STARTING! [8|] Now, I am no fan of their foods but seriously!! Talk about a big decision!  I don't know what to do; I really don't think I can turn it down!!

Congratulations! What a great offer!  [sm=dance.gif][sm=dance.gif][sm=dance.gif] Whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best. I  remember you saying that you wanted to change things; I hope you can find a place where you can do that if you still want to; maybe Iams/Eukanuba is the place.

    Jenna,

That's so wonderful. This may just be the opportunity you're looking for to make a difference in they way these huge companies think.
Heck, at least it would give you a chance to make some $$$$$ so you can, maybe, write a book? [;)] or pay off student loans or other expenses that do tend to pile up when your in school.
Not to mention, wouldn't it look good on a resume' ?
On the other hand, you will be one of those *horrid* P&G scientist, who is just trying to save the big companies more money, and all the posters here will dish you constantly [;)]

Good luck to you. I am sure that you will make a terrific addition to their team and make a difference for all the dogs and cats that are eating I & E.
Just don't forget us small "fries" here at idog.

    "Welcome to the Dark Side."

    "Luke, I am your father."

Congrats. It's nice to have headhunters looking for you. I wouldn't say the easy thing which is that it would be silly to turn it down. But that's a lot of fish sticks and it definitely begs weighty consideration.

I, for one, do not think of all the kibble makers as evil, money grubbing scum, not any more so than the rest of us. But I do see them as being cautious and not as subject to market pressure. For example, the big ones might be slower to remove synth vit K if there's no actual proof that it is wrong for a pet rather than just carte blanche take it out because some customers think it shouldn't have it. They would have you there as the resident expert.

OTOH, you can make a difference there and the strongest changes start from within. You won't change production or decide the profit margin. But you can see to it that our pets are getting what they need. And you can live comfortably while doing so. And have some for retirement.

Pretty sure I'd take it!  Congratulations!!!

Personally, I wouldn't think twice about it.
First of all, you won't be helping our pets by not taking it, afterall they will have others to take the job whether you do or not. P & G will keep making pet food and stay in business.
Second of all, to have someone that knows more of what is good or bad to put in our pet foods, can only be a good thing.
While we might not go buy P & G food for our pets, others will. So I feel good in knowing that they would be hiring someone that has a real interest in what they are doing there. As Ron says, maybe you CAN make a difference. And at that salary, how can you not give it a try????
    Congratulations!

    lol everyone....

    *breathes through vader mask*

The only thing that keeps me from doing so is signing a contract now....while the salary and benefits are beyond amazing, I don't know if I want to be one of "those" people, lol.  Hey, but they did say I get free Eukanuba as long as I'm an employee *rolls eyes* [;)]

Hey, you could always take the job and keep looking for another one that fits your interest [:)].

Congrats, by the way! It must be exciting to say the least!
    • Gold Top Dog
How interesting! I wouldn't hesitate. You could be in a position to make a difference and at least you'd get to see how they really work. Congrats!
