Who voted for such a :[ president!!!

We will never end the war on terrorism simply because no matter how many of them we kill, there will always be someone more than willing to step up to the plate. I'm not fond of Bush. I think he's in way over his head and it seems like he has no idea on how to get himself, and this country, out of the mess.  A few weeks ago I thought I was going to break the tv at the gym after watching the discussion over gay marriage. We have a war with thousands of innocent people dying, gas prices are through the roof and he's more concerned about 2 men or 2 women getting together in Holy Matrimony.

I'll admit that I wasn't very impressed with Kerry - I found him rather dull and colorless (although I really liked his wife).  But -- in a president, at least for me, dull and colorless is OK and stupid is NOT.  So I voted for him.  I don't see him trying to convince the public that God spoke to him and told him to start a war for oil and he didn't have the *agenda* The Shrub had, i.e. finishing up what his daddy started in the gulf in the early 90s. He might not have been a great choice either, but I really believe that if John Kerry had been elected, we would NOT be embroiled in war with Iraq. For me, that's good enough.

I'm in agreement with Ron.  And just a thought, if we aren't fighting terrorism over there, would they be over here? Would we have another 9/11?  Also, haven't you noticed that when something goes to crap in the rest of the world, it is the U.S. that gets called to come fix it - and that includes the U.N. doing the calling.  Other countries and the U.N. want US to fix everyone elses problem, but cry like crazy when we do get involved.  Personally, I am glad both Gore and Kerry neither one where in office when 9/11 happened.  Bush might get some things wrong, but he has gotten some things Right.
    Just my 2 cents.

That, to me, is the right reason to vote. Vote for who you think will do the best job, not because of a particular party or how they look or act. I think Al Gore should run again because he is able to laugh at himself which means, to me, his personal issues won't get in the way of being president. And he is good for the environment. At the same time, we need to develop our own fuel.

My sentiments too, Ron. If Lieberman had been the democratic canidate at the time, I'm sure my whole family would have voted for him.

I personally, right now don't subscribe to a "party" so I guess that makes me independant.

As for the gas prices. I think they are necessary to get us out of the easy fix of more "fuel efficient" vehicles. It just might motivate people to look to new sources of energy; oil isn't the be all and end all of fuel.

Ya know, in the 70's "oil crisis" I lived in Detroit and we were all upset that gas got up to almost a buck a gallon.....at the same time of this supposed shortage, closed up gas stations had FULL underground tanks.  In MI gas can only be stored in those tanks for x number of months.  Many of these stations had been out of business for YEARS.  I worked nites and many a time on my way home I would see gas tankers at long closed gas stations, "parked" conveniently close to the fill pipes.

In the 70's there was a huge call for alternate fuel sources and all sorts of ideas were floated that never made it to the drawing board....or if they did, they finally came to be ultra expensive vehicles that working folks couldn't even think about buying.

And gosh, I'm sorry, but I don't BELIEVE the oil crisis is real THIS time either.  Not when oil companies are making grossly record profits and our government won't slap them with a windfall profits tax. It's greed, pure and simple.

As someone who lives in Ma. I could not in good conscience vote for Kerry. He is Kennedy's puppet and always will be. I voted for Bush because I did not want to see Kerry as president. President Bush has left me baffled many times, but if I had the choice between Kerry and Bush again, I would vote for Bush.
I just hope next election we have better candidates running, but the way it looks now, I am in serious doubt. Hopefully also the next president won't get blamed for every hang nail people get, like it seems like President Bush does.

I'm not registered to any party. I would just as soon voted for Frank Zappa, "A troubled man for troubled times."

But I am very conservative. I prefer the govt have limited powers. OTOH, we do need some controls in place. I don't blame Bush for anything and he has done some good, as most any president will do. But he's weak in areas, just as anyone else. I can't help but wonder if the oil problem is due to his family being in oil. I agree with Glenda that the oil problems are more than likely, manufactured shortages. And they don't come under control, it will bankrupt our economy.

Just my [sm=2cents.gif] but I don't think the war in Iraq has one dang thing to do with *fighting terrorists*.  If it did, we'd be at war with the Saudis who were the real perpetrators of 9/11. This is about helping "The Shrub" gain control of an oil producing country. If the entire country of Brazil (which is, to be sure, much smaller than the US) can be totally energy independent, there's no reason why we can't at least start working toward that same goal.

Crisis? No. Time for a change? Yes.

We are way too dependant upon oil and it's kind of silly when time and money could be spent on alternative fuel. Let's not forget about the benefits to the enviroment if we moved to a cleaner burning one.

I would not, in the least, be suprised if there is a real oil crisis before my life ends. Oil isn't renewable in the manner and rate we're using it, and the resivoires will, eventually, be empty. If that time comes, and we don't have a reliable alternative... then what?

Wow.  Talk about a topic that has the potential to get the fur flying.  [:)]

I voted for Bush twice, and would do so again, given the same choices.  That being said, and in the interest of letting you know where I sit before I tell you where I stand, I have always voted a straight Republican ticket.  I actually consider myself more in line with the Libertarian party, but voting Libertarian is wasting a vote.  I favor marginally less government rather than marginally more, so I vote Republican.  I will say too that I am far from pleased with Bush's performance, especially in his second term.

Ron said one thing that I am going to take exception to, and that is his belief that the next President will be a Democrat.  I think that is far from a sure thing.  It seems to me that the strongest potential candidate the Dems have is Hillary Clinton.  If she gets the nomination, and I can't believe the Democrats would nominate her but, if they do, the Republicans will crucify her.  She is way too liberal and no amount of spin on her part is going to change that or keep the Republicans from brandishing her record before the public.  Besides, she is a woman.  This country will elect a black president before they elect a woman.

Now, that outta tone the debate down a bit.  [:)]

Gotta believe you on one point, Billy. Hillary is SO NOT electable.  Hopefully the Democrats will realize that and have the good sense to nominate someone else. [:)]

Ouch Billy.  lol.  I disagree... and I also think she would surprise everyone who may be looking for just that sort of change...  BUT

I would love to see a democrate win although I consider myself no party in particular... I feel democrats are far better than republicans who seem to have totally forgotten that rule that said religion and state shall be kept separate...[8|]  I also think and its just my opinion that democrats are the lesser of two evils when it comes to personal greed and corruption. ( Im going to duck now...)

I know someone may want to point out diff things and thats fine... for my age I stay pretty well on top of it and I dont want to get into a debate over who did what.. *I* just think that, although they both are unfortunately greedy and corrupted.

Joyce, the leadership of the Dem party is so out of touch, it is hard to tell what they would do.

I was soooo hoping my comments might stir up a little more stuff tho.  Maybe everyone is still in bed?  [;)]

What rule is that and what evidence has led you to conclude that dems are better at following it than reps?
